If you haven't tried this out yet and you run AIM, well you suck. It completely removes those annoying ads and it also gives you a few more cool options. Check it.
I've been using DeadAIM for a few months now -- it's pretty sweet. Smarter logging than the old AIM used to do, browsed conversations (if you're like that), and transparency. The dude has a nice little Windows MSI installer now and everything. I recommend it to yr mom.
