While I really did like most this document, 1a has always bugged me. It truely is not aluminium, it's aluminum. OED.com is a pay site, but everything from Merrium-Webster to the Encyclopædia Britannica to Google agrees that the element name is best translated from latin into english as aluminum, and not the misspelling aluminium.
Aside from that, I think 6a, 6b, and 10a are my favorites.
Yeah. 1a slides by because of the fact that, in general, the English have obviously originated a lot of words we use and sort of have jurisdiction over them, but it's not the case this time. Many sources back up the fact that the original proposed name was alumium, and then aluminum, and THEN aluminium, which was finally adopted internationally cause it had the nice conventional -ium ending like most elements. Here , for example.
