Just found this wonderful idea.
I'm looking for an MP3 playre for my car and this has a great Unique Selling Point - with it's Wi-Fi link you can park you car outside the house and your PC can push whichever MP3s you want onto it's 20Gb drive. Don't have to carry anything back and forth so you won't end up leaving your HDD in the house, still connected to the USB cable.

Unfortunately it's only available in the US at the moment, so I'm considering one of these instead.

Anyone else got an in-car MP3 system? If so what you using and how good is it?

You could go with a pioneer or alpine deck, they arent too bad.
But, then again, your speakers and subs obviously play a large part in how your music sounds.

In my last car I had an Aiwa CDCMP3 (i dont think they make them anymroe) but its a CD driven mp3 player. You just burn the mp3s onto a cd and it plays. A great idea, but it was the first generation of such mp3 player so it skipped badly.

Still have it, just not installed. Probably worth $100 or less now.

I picked up this Aiwa unit for my Jeep, and I fuking HART it!

No problems with the skippage that Seņor Cube reported. My only gripe is it has no amp potential...preout is for subwoofer only.

I'm trying to figure out how to build a DVD/MP3/GPS box for it. That way, I can put a wireless adapter on it, and just move shit from the computers in the house over to the car while it sits in the driveway. I picked up some little 5in. LCD's really cheap to install in the headrests, but I've not figured out what to do for the mainscreen. I'd like to find a reasonably priced touchscreen type thing.

If I ever get the fuking thing built, I'll post pics.

Have a look at this Clavis. Good project guide with some specific in-car software and a nice touch-screen.
