I'll cast my vote for Guinness here. Yes, it's definitely gaining that "the snobby beer for beer snobs who actually dont know shit about beer" reputation, and that is sad, but fact is it's just easy enough to find, and usually it's still the best thing on tap unless you're at a serious beer bar. I mean, really... Gunness vs. Coors? Come now.

My favorite 'cooler stuffer' is Labatt Blue Light in longneck bottles. Basically just because pretty much everybody likes it and will drink it. I prefer it to Molson simply because I find Molson a little sweeter, and I like my lagers dry.

Now for the fun part; beer bars and serious party stores. Hefe-Weizen, particularly Franziskaner, is a very tasty treat, and totally worth enduring "what's that lemon slice for, faggot?" from your less educated friends. I'm not a UFO fan though; if that's their Hefe, I'll skip it.

I had smoked beer once, in an awesome little bar in Boston called Bukowski. I understand some of you at the last BBP gave Bukowski Attitude, and I can say by proxy from my informed opinion: fuck you. They sell smoked beer, and that makes them A-OK. The bartender described it to me as "like drinking a hot dog" and you know, I'll be damned but I could definitely see the analogy. The experience of a ballpark dog and a cold brew, only all packed just into the brew. I think I had 3 of 'em. I'd tell you the name except I don't remember it, and even if I did I couldn't spell it; the only thing on the label in English was the importer's name and the warning label the US requires for import sales.

Other honorable mentions include: Bass Ale, Sierra Nevada, Negro Modelo, Pacifico, and various Lambics I've sampled over the years.
