I have an old laptop that has 98 on it. It cannot access the internet, though, and the cd drive as well as the floppy drive is broken.

Excellent. I'm trying to upgrade the BIOS on a Promise Ultra100 IDE controller card so this box can use all 200gb of a disk I got. (The LBP is trying her hand at Fedora Core to make a MythTV box.)
1) Go here.
2) Download the BIOS update file.
3) Unzip. There are two files in it: PTIFLASH.EXE and B14.bin. Toss these on the root of C:. Old-school programs like this often hate being run from a directory with spaces or too many characters in the name, so the root of C: usually works for me.
4) The moment of fuking truth. When you doubleclick PTIFLASH, does it pop up a small DOS prompt, do nothing, then exit silently? If so, try running it from within a DOS prompt. If it still does nothing, thanks for trying this, and a pox on all shitty software and/or whatever stupid assumption I'm making.
5) If it does work, it's going to want to write the contents of B14.bin to your floppy disk.
6) Let it.
7) Now, because you can't email me a floppy disk, download RawWriteWin. What it's going to do, under your loving ministration, is read your newly-written floppy disk sector by sector and create a floppy image on your hard disk. This floppy image will be a perfect duplicate of the floppy, only in software.
8) Email me that floppy image. I'll have your children. This is how I'm spending my Saturday night, but so are you, so let's not discuss it.
