A long winded rant from me is long overdue. There is a wild political shit storm out there, so much so that I have not been able to parse it out for MR beyond an occasional LS link or two.
So here it is. In about a year, we are going to have an election. We are going to have to choose a new president.
Let's pretend that I will run for that office. Let's further pretend that you are interested in what I would do with the office.
Tell me what issues you would like me to address for you.
Do not tell me what you would want me to do; I don't like being told what to do. Just give me one or two of your concerns.
(obvious) Example: Gun Legislation.
After I've written the thing, you can express you rampant disagreement and your dumbass alternatives to your hearts desire.
P.S. Don't feel bad if someone has already posted your concern, lay it on up there. I will take it that requests from many different folks should merit more profound examination. Call it "democracy."
P.P.S. I just thought that this is more Forum-like than Journal-like, so I've move the contents of the REVOLT! journal here.
The MegaRad political concerns thus far are as follows:
MOMAD would like me to address concerns regarding Iraq, Ttaxes on Ttobacco, Federal Funding for Public Schools, and Health Care for Welfare Recipients.
Yazirian is interested in Unemployment, and Intellectual Property issues.
Vasudeva has Drug and Privacy issues he'd like addressed. (perhaps also unlawful arrest and prison rape; I'm not sure.)
Bloody Bowels is looking forward to reading about Immigration Policy under my *administration.*
VladTweano wonders what in the name of Rabo do I propose to do about: Industrial pig farm effluent poisoning rivers. Voting machines with no audit trails. CIA operatives and their subordinates being exposed for political revenge. The Patriot Act. Developing alternative fuel technologies. Clearcutting. Cutting veteran benefits.
Hobo is concerned about the rising cost of fuel and electricity.
Stump would like to hear ar rant on U.S. Foriegn Policy, Tort Reform and Loss of Privacy.
At this point, Invasion of Privacy is taking an early lead in MegaRelavence.
There are only 11 responses, however. So it is difficult to gauge what are the popular topics in politics with this small sampling.
As MOMAD previously pointed out, I have essentially one issue. It's an issue that I'm not sure all folks have the same interest in, and besides, I've pretty much hit it up harder than anti-gun commenters to the "pints" were able to. IMHO, I've whupped that topic and the gun control freaks already.
The thing is, the principals upon which my "pro-gun" stance are founded can be applied (I think) to other areas of political interest. Those other areas of interest are what I'm trying to get from the general readership.
MegaRadders make yourselves and your interests known.

The plan "dismisses deterrence as a Cold War relic" and, rather, speaks about convincing or compelling states to accept their sovereign responsibilities. "In essence, it lays out a plan for permanent U.S. military and economic domination of every region on the globe, unfettered by international treaty or concern. And to make that plan a reality, it envisions a stark expansion of our global military presence."

re: Who ya gonna vote for? We already know! and Voting Test
DO NOT FEED TEH LOKES! YOU COULD LOSE YER FINGAHS!
Kerry comes up 73% for me.
I'm trying hard to seriously recalibrate my responses to obtain a choice besides Bush.
I suspect that Bush will continue to be the only option until I can accept that:
1) abortion should be a "right", rather than merely legal
2) feedom of religion means you cannot be allowed to pray in a public school
3) abridging the right of the people to keep and bear arms is NOT unconstitutional
4) the government should be allowed to kill it own citizens
5) that there should be no choices regarding education other than government sanctioned public indoctrination ... er ... education.
6) that the U.N. should have any political authority whatsoever.
7) that is OK to enslave every person earning a paycheck so that the government can give away "free" healthcare, retirement plans, food, and shelter to whomsoever they deem "deserves" it.
8) that every job out there is worth at leat $5.15 an hour, and it is appropriate for the government to force employers to pay it.
9) that it is clearly the business of the government to decide for us what kind of automobiles we should be driving "for our own good."
It's not likely to happen though.
The Socialists ... er ... Democrats have got to get classical about their liberalism, otherwise they are no better, and probably worse, than their Crypto-Fascist ... er ... Republican opponents.
You are a laughable flock of mewling sheep who's only options are vote fascist, vote socialist, or not vote at all. You'll all get what you deserve, my problem is that I'll get it too.

Indeed you will! Abraham Lincoln said "People always get exactly the kind of government they deserve."
This is only true though when dealing with large numbers of people on a national level. What infdividuals get as opposed to what the deserve is another matter entirely.
The best part of not voting isd that no matter who wins and regardless of how they fuck the citizenry I'll know that I had no part in putting them there.
