I recieved a PM from someone enquiring my knowledge. YAY!

In a long story short an A.D "Airworthiness Directive" Is so hard core that I found a site that explained it better than my drunk ass could

Here is the whole page http://crankyflier.com/2008/03/07/southwest-unsafe-aircraft/

In short. An Airworthines Directive "Now refered to as A.D." is the ultimate goverment ruling saying " fix the shit or your whole franchise is on the ground unti we sort it out". In this case SouthWest Airlines admitted there fault"whch is the smart thing to do as we do it also" on not doing the inspections in the required time frame." Usually these AD's are actually submitted by the manufacturer themselfs to the FAA with a fix so it is reported as a known issue and a fix is already inplace before the FAA gets this report.

Now, when we issue an AD we jump on it right away as an AD is actually pretty serious. Heres an example... Your brakes fail in your 2005 Chevy pick up as well as other owners. Ok, GM will send out a recall after a few years. When an AD is generated you have a specific amount of time"maybe 20 days, maybe 100 days" to inspect it or the plane is considered "Unairworthy" and sits on the ground wherever the clock ran out. That is total report jargin as the plane could actually fly for 10,000 more hours before problems occure in reality. I have researched AD's against this plane and it goes on for ever. Every plane in service has so many AD's that if you were a worry wort you would never step on a plane again. Consider there are over 3 million parts, relays, wires and circuits on any givin plane that the auto manufacturers have a shittier record than the airlines. Now yo all sit there watching the news and you hear" Cracks in the fusilage" and panic. This AD actually looks at cracks"YE gAD" on the trailing edge of the planes wing. Meaning it won't make a differance if the parts/ skin seperate from the plane. If it was a serious life threatining issue the FAA would immediatly ground any plane involved until it was resolved. Aviation is way diffferant than automotive. Not even close. If you want to see what AD's are issued against any plane than here is the link. Just put the planes model in the field. i.e 737,767 blah blah\

http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAD.nsf/MainFrame?OpenFrameSet

If it is devistating than the FAA won't let it fly. Plane and semple. These "Cracks" they are looking for are nominal but a crack is crack regardless where it is. We "Gulfstream" reported to the FAA an AD that said " The Hub that holds the fan blades inplace has shown sighns if cracking. We will inform the operator that they have 30 days to have the hubs xrayed to see if there are cracks". If the hubs fail than the blades seperate from the motor and god forbid puncture the main cabin where Johnny Billionair is watching direct TV.. It's not a big deal people after all.

Here is an example on how the Airlines operate. A plane arrives at the gate to let off the hosers and pick up the losers. The ground technician sees the tire is showing layers of threads that shows it's beyond usuable limits and needs to be replaced. The technician grabs a wad of toilete paper, soaks it in the toilette water and places it over the faulted area of the tire. The inspector walks up, sees the toilette paper covered in "Blue Juice" and doesn't want to touch shit and piss and says "Tire is good" You are on your way to Hawaii. Just because the goverment runs the rules doesn't mean you are safe. Hapy flying.. You got questions? I got answers

AB,

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I'm looking forward to reading it in the morn. Have several drinks on me and charge it to the Underhills.

So does this mean I will crash and burn on my Southwest flight to Las Vegas in two weeks?
