calling on teh infos of the swarmz...
does anyone have the verizon fiose, do you like it circle yesorno?
we've had fiber installed in our neighborhood fairly recently and i've been thinking about getting fios service(s).
right now we have:
basic cable (extended? non premium at any rate)
landline phone service
dsl
i've been pretty happy with everything except comcast can seriously suck a fucking actively-competing-for-worst-company-ever dick. we have verizon phone service and i'm probably paying too much to earthlink for dsl over verizon's copper.
to my knowledge, the copper isn't being cut which is kind of a (luddite?) relief. we can't really ditch the phone service because our cells are horrible shitty from inside the house.
hrm, maybe this is all for naught. it looks like i could save ~30/month by bundling everything with verizon, but the website indicates that we'd have to change numbers. actually, we can probably just go with tv and internet service and still save money. even internet service isn't any more money and upgrading to 5/2 or even 15/2.
ANYWAY (in conclusion):
1) do you have Verizon FIOS?
2) do you dislike Verizon FIOS; why or why not?
3) do they do any funky shit like block ports or send you notices about using too much bandwidth without clearly definining that up front?
4) how concerned should i be about them jacking up prices?
5) [any good question you can think to answer that i haven't asked]

Like do they let you torrent your ass off, or did they roll in a shitload of nazi regulation with that shiny new infrastructure?
Also been very curious about the FiOS rollout here, and no one who has it can really tell me anything about it.

I hear they cut/pull out all copper cables to your home. Once you FiOS, it may be irreversible.
Aside from that, I hear the bandwidth is as advertised, at least around Boston.

i live in a condo, so i'm assuming they need to keep everything going into the development anyway. unless they decided to go and snip my specific pair when activating fios. i'm thinking that they wouldn't go to the trouble. am i off-base here?
i am a little worried about losing copper due to the non-common-carrier status of fiber. i don't know if it's even worth looking into, though. thoughts?

Just confirmed that torrents are not blocked or throttled from a bunch of users of FiOS.
Not sure if common carrier status has to do with TV or phone cable, most ISPs covet it for legal protection even if they are not phone companies.
Do it. Post the speedtest.net link for everyone to envy

ordered the 15/2 triple package (tv/net/fon + $100 gift card) tonight for $115/mo (declined the 15/15 for $127). don't have to change phone number. kinda bummed that i have to get set top boxes for the tvs if i want to watch anything but local. that takes me up to $130/mo, but i'm still saving $25.

I got it.
20/20 package. It smokes.
Their router they give you is shit. There's a few guides online to use the router as a bridge, and once you do that everything works great. Nothing like seeding torrents at 2MB/s.

The upload is incorrect though.I upload @ around 200+,so that would make it somewhere in the 2xxx range.
I`ve also seen my down speeds reach 1.8 mbps on highly seeded torrents from TL.Nothing like starting an XViD download,going to take a shit,and upon return it is done downloading.
