With less than one year until the 2008 US Presidential election I thought it might be a good idea to get the pulse of Linkswarm and see how the typical swarmer feels about the canidates.

I'll start- Currrently I feel Senator Clinton is the best choice and I would vote for her if the election was tomorrow.

Lets hear it.

Unsurprisingly, I choose Ron Paul.

Right now, I don't forsee any viable second-choice. I will vehemently vote against the following candidates, however:

Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Huckabee, Tancredo (lol), John Edwards

I will probably vote against these guys too:

Romney, McCain, Kucinich (lol), Thompson

Here is what I want in 2008:
-Small government, keep taxes low, reduce spending (which brings me to...)
-End the bullshit kill-the-world foreign policy
-Return to federalism
-Repeal the Patriot Act
-Civil Liberties returned?

Another Ron Paul guy here. But if he doesn't win the primary (god forbid!), then I'd favor Obama/Clinton over any other Rep. Doesn't mean I'd vote for them tho; maybe 3rd party just to make the point - or maybe instead of voting against a candidate, vote against them all by not voting.

I'm throwing my support behind Obama, but I live in Ohio, so my primary vote doesn't mean jack.

Ron Paul (duhsnax)-I even re-registered Republican(FTW!) and convinced Wifey to re-register as such to vote in our states shitty closed sexualasspussy primary.

My choices in order of preference.

1. Dr. Numba 1 Stunna Paul
2. Alan Keyes
3. Kucinich
4. Obama
5. McCain
6. Edwards
7. Romney
8. ....and the guy who made and served me my McMuffin yesterday over ALL other candidates.

(thats kind of an interesting list now that I look at it.)

Ron Paul. I can't see voting for anyone traditionally in either party; they're too similar and self-serving. The Democrats are weak corporate-owned losers whose only strength may be a hint of socialism; the Republicans are mentally weak robotic ideologues whose only strength is that they're all in lockstep with each other.

I'd be oddly comforted by having Bill Clinton back in the White House, but I'm really not sure I'm willing to put up with four years of his wife or her Republican hatedolls.

I suppose it's just barely possible, with all the fervent uartism and youtubery going on, that Ron Paul actually gets the nomination, but I xxxtreem-doubt it. I'll be voting for him anyway; there's no one else running I think I can actually feel good about voting in.

In other words, I am again voting in a show of support for an independent party, in the hope that eventually we have more choice than just one of two mongoloid twins.

I hope Fred Thompson catches on fire, for the sheer hubris of thinking he deserves to be up there, and pray Huckabee doesn't win.

I guess Giuliani would be smart to pray about too; I don't want to live in the police state that starts WWIII.

Apart from the three above-mentioned fools, I don't see much difference in anyone who's traditionally popular.

Ted Nugent
Thompson, sort of.
Not Hillary, Maybe the Mormon
Not the Baptist, Maybe Obama

it's a hard seesaw between ron paul or anti-giuliani.

i'm afraid giuliani will win the nomination, and i want him in the whitehouse even less than i wanted g.w.

Eh. Giuliani's advisors call it WWIV. III was apparently the cold war.

Nah. Giuliani's campaign is dead. You should be having nightmares over a similarly shitty President Huckabee.

Uart: You should be having nightmares over a similarly shitty President Huckabee.

I dunno, it would have at least two positive outcomes.

1) It would afterwards be immediately obvious to everyone, not just us, how ridiculous it is for Christians to claim to be persecuted in this country, and

2) It might finally force through some real separation-of-church-and-state in response to his inevitable mishandling of same, and, optionally,

3) I've always wondered what it's like to live in Europe.

I'd honestly vote for me.
I'd honestly vote for Ron Paul

If I had the chance, I'd make Gene Simmons, or Penn Jillette the President just to see what would happen--so would you, and you know it.

Thompson, sort of? He's a cartoon. I kinda like cartoons. And if the son of Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn gets to be President, I'm ok with that--sort of. Ok?

Maybe the Mormon? The clear choice over Clinton. His religion may be a goofy hoax, but her politics are a real nightmare.

Ted Nugent? Yeah. 100% Shadenfreud.

Ron Paul and I disagree on a few important issues, especially his stance on abortion and capitol punishment. For an ultra conservative, he's rather liberal when it comes to healthcare, legalization of medical mj and gambling, things I can agree with.

I would vote Clinton if I were to vote today.

I cannot vote in this election because I hate every choice with all of my heart.

I can almost identify with the whole "vote for Ron Paul because he's not one of them" thing... but fucking register Republican? Fuck you.

Plus, Ron Paul is snake oil and there's a sucker born every minute.

I vote no for all.

Ya know, I've been absolutely disgusted with the direction we've been taking for a long time. Give me a candidate who'll stop stealing from me every payday, who'll leave me alone to make what I can out of the pitiful existence we call life.

Obama, for black powa.

But honestly, he seems the least tainted, and he's pretty damn intelligent. If he had a chance in hell of winning, he'd get my vote.

Every candidate on the right side sends fucking chills up my spine every time I listen to their debate.

Ron Paul is radical, sometimes radically good, but sometimes just plain nutty. His financial policies could potentially run the US economy much further into the ground than even GWB admin's prolonged incompetence.

But since US won't really elect a black man (wishful thinking on my side), I guess I'd go with Hilary. Yes, she's just like the rest (tm), except she isn't dumb and hasn't a streak of crazy ideas.

Ron Paul easily. I know that it's going to be Guiliani that gets the nomination simply because thats what the media thinks we want to see.
Same goes for the democrats, Hillary will get the nod with Obama a very close second. She is one person I absolutely would not vote for. If you listen closely to every thing she says it means socialism. She made a statement on NPR concerning health care that the few (rich) would have to give up some to pay for the poor. Her shit could be golden but if she had that stance on any single issue I wouldn't vote for her.

I'll probably won't even vote if Paul doesn't make it just out of shear apathy for a two party best of the worst system.

I would never vote for gene simmons or ted nugent, they're both insane pricks. Nugent lives in an ultra-right-wing fantasyland where the only meat people eat is game(he wouldn't have his ridiculous comfy ideology if he actually had to live in the real world and work like the rest of us), and Gene Simmons helped make the music business purely a business. Kiss sucked, it was purely a marketing endeavour, PERIOD. I say to hell with both of em.

Dr. Paul has my vote. The rest of the republicans are fucking retarded(especially guliani). If he fails in the primary, then I'd probably go with Obama, but more out of the "lesser of many evils" mindset. If hillary wins the primary, then I'm voting third party, most likely whoever the libertarian candidate is.

At the risk of being a proselyting jackass, it's this decision that ensures we'll stay with a two-party system. You think they want you to vote for someone else? You've just declared your willingness to leave the entire bowl of dogfood available to whichever of the two unhousebroken strays can fight for it more entertainingly. (I'll assume you've heard this before and won't belabor the point.)

I think I may have even said it before at one point or another. I will definitely be voting during our meaningless primary for the first time ever. It's been a pretty closely held secret from what I can see that my state even holds one, no news articles in the past, no school closings and no stump(haha) speeches or pandering. Hell, even Lieberman didn't come through here, and it's his own state.

No matter how hard I try I can't get into politics. A debate is really a contest over who can lie and bullshit the best. When they get into office they rarely fulfill there promise made on the campaign trail. And everyone I voted for in the past doesn't get elected anyways. AND if my 1 vote matters that much than pay up $uka cuz I ain't cheap.

I have a complaint about the current crop of candidates, Hilary, Giuliani, etc.

They all claim bold legislative agendas. But the president isn't a legislator. It's unconstittional, if you ask me.

No, I think I see where you turned off the path. The executive branch has recently decreed that the executive's power extends to whatever areas the executive wants. Seems like kind of a weird equation, but I think I can break it down like so...

Q: Oh yeah? Says who?
A: The executive.
Q: Oh... ok.

See? It's actually quite elegant!

I'll make sure you get a second copy of that memo.
