After reading something on the front page about two teens murdering that pedo, it got me thinking about something very similar that happened to a couple kids I went to high school with.
My second year of high school, two acquaintances had been beefing with a kid from another local high school in a neighboring town. One day the two kids (one of them who's legal name was changed to Gator by his own parents for his birthday, and his fathers name was legally changed to Cochise - if that's not an alarm) decided to go to the neighboring school and jump him. They brought a baseball bat and a buck knife.
They entered the school, walked into a few different classes looking for the kid. Finally, they found him and approached him while he was sitting at his desk. As the kid rose out of his desk to defend himself, one of my acquaintances stabs him in the stomach and turns the knife, which was the fatality. The kid died an hour later.
Nine years later, I meet and marry the student sitting behind him in class.
Carter, the dumbass that held the knife is still doing time out of a life sentence. Gator, the kid who plotted the beat down served 10 years out of 15 and walked out in 02'.

At the same time as above, I'm in school with another kid, Robert Baker. He's a senior, I'm a sophomore. We're both in commercial art and I absolutely hate the kid. He's black, 6' something and a ghetto punk. Just an absolute bully. One day he brings a gun to school and shoots the thing out into the air out after school one day. He gets caught and booted. A few years down the road I see a write-up about him in the paper; he's sitting on death row in Texas for mugging and killing an old lady. He tried to grab her purse, which he did, and during the struggle she was flung head first into a fire hydrant. He was put to death a few years ago.

A really close friend of mine in commercial art, Matthew Primus, was busted after senior year for child abuse. He was babysitting his sisters kid and the kid was found with bite marks all over his body. The kid was around 1 year. He went and served a few years behind bars. I was glad, even though we were good friends. He deserved it.
He got out 2 years ago. He went fishing last month and fell into the water and drowned. When I went to Mass (during the last BBP, I went fishing at the spot he drowned at - some sort of self healing I guess.)

Last year some friends of mine went cruising around town with another friend of theirs in his fancy new car, and he was spending ridiculous amounts of money out of the blue... but he was buying them shit so nobody really questioned it. They find out later that day that he murdered his uncle in his house and decided to use up all the dead man's resources (I think he knew he was getting caught).

Two years ago, my uncle John was closing the auto parts store he managed. A former employee that my uncle had fired a few weeks earlier showed up with a couple of other guys and tried to rob him and ended up shooting him. The shooter got 120 years without parole, the accomplice got like 60 years, and the lookout got 25. The guys are trying to get their sentences reduced now, but I don't think they have a chance, although you never know with our fucked up justice system.
I've told this story before, but earlier this year one of the guys I worked with shot and killed one of my friends in front of pretty much everybody in the shop. That's probably going to trial pretty soon, depending on the outcome of dude's competency hearing, which is this Friday.

With all of the past craziness I have had to deal with in my life; I am very thankful I have never had to witness first hand and/or had to endure the agony of the sudden loss of a close friend or family member at the hands of a greedy ass bastard/bitch/fucked-up idiot.

While I was away at college, my best friend from High school while on a coke/booze bender, kidnapped, raped and sodomized his ex-girlfriend.
For such a crime he became the guest of New York State and spent 18 years at one of their finer correctional facilities.

Crown failed to eliminate reasonable doubt, judge says
REGINA -- Emotions exploded in a Regina courtroom Thursday after 34-year-old Clifford Ernest Tabor was acquitted of manslaughter in the death of three-year-old Kimberly Kelly.
"He killed my baby!" screamed a distraught Paula Kelly, tears streaming down her face. Other family members yelled that Kelly's former boyfriend is "getting away with murder."
Emotions were at the other extreme for relatives of the accused.
Tabor's sister Bridget Andrews screamed "Oh, my God. Oh, my God. My prayers have been answered. Justice has prevailed" and threw her arms around her brother, who stood in stunned silence.
Moments earlier, Queen's Bench Justice Larry Kyle told the packed courtroom that "it is not the role of this court to decide who killed Kimberly (Kelly) and how it happened. I must only determine whether, beyond a reasonable doubt, Cliff Tabor caused her death as a result of an illegal act, which would constitute manslaughter."
Kyle dismissed the Crown's theory that Tabor went into Kimberly's room during the night of April 12 and bashed her head against the metal bed, causing her death.
"At best, the Crown has shown that it is logical and therefore probable that Cliff Tabor is responsible. The Crown has failed, in my mind, to eliminate reasonable doubt as to Cliff Tabor's guilt and I therefore find him not guilty," Kyle said.
Standing on the steps of the courthouse, a tired and emotional Tabor told reporters he is glad the ordeal is over after spending more than 10 months in jail.
"I am free and happy and I'm still sad. I'm angry all that I've gone through.
I went through a year in hell," Tabor said.
"I never hurt Kimberly, I couldn't. I never hurt my child in the future or in the past. I can certainly say I never hurt a woman," he said, telling reporters he is angry with police for taking away the greatest thing he had -- "a family."
After shaking hands with Tabor, Kimberly's birth father told reporters he "hoped justice was served. I don't know how to feel right now. I just want to cry," he said. "All I know is Kimberly is dead and nobody is being held accountable."
The little girl died after being struck forcefully on the forehead. The blow caused internal bleeding, creating pressure on her brain.
The judge discounted Tabor's "so-called confession" attributing it to police suggestions and his continued confused mind which resulted from "grief, fear and a certain amount of post-Valium fogginess."
"Having discounted the suspect admissions made by him under pressure from Sgt. Jerry Nelson I have no certainty as to what, if anything, happened during the night of April 12-13 to bring about Kimberly's death," Kyle said.
A spokesman for the Kelly family said he hoped the verdict would be appealed.
edit: During the trial it was revealed that Cliff and the mother were the only adults in the house at the time.

Keith Rainey, 24, was visiting a neighborhood convenience store when he was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by retaliatory shooting. A Navy veteran who served in Japan, Rainey bled to death after the bullet penetrated his chest.

I watched a dude OD in front of me when I was about 9. He shot up, tuned in and dropped dead. The assemblage of party goers finally paid attention to my constant 'you sure this guy is ok' sermon from the arm of the couch inches away from dead junkie.
They bundled him up, killed all the lights, dumped him on a neighbor's lawn, called 911 watched in silent rapture for the coroner.

A kid i knew very well stabbed his dads mate 36 timeswhen he was 18. I didnt hang out with him very much after the age of 14/15 but about 2 days before it happened i very nearly got into a fistfight with him outside the local pub and i could see he was totally fucked up.
He got a life sentence, at 19. Dumb fuck.
