Linkswarm members are generally smart and can even have the occasional intelligent conversation, so I ask - who believes in ghosts, spirits, bigfoot, aliens, blacks?

Ghosts: I've had experiences that were similar to what other people call ghost stories. I'm not sure if they indicate people coming back from the dead, or something less dramatic and hopeful but equally unexplained.

Bigfoot: Shortly after I was born in Central-Northern Washington State, my parents found a series of huge footprints outside our house. We lived way, way, way out in the middle of nowhere. I've been there since, and it's really remote -- no electricity, no water, no neighbors. I don't think it necessarily was Bigfoot, but it's not a place I'd imagine him hating.

Aliens: It stands to reason, if the universe is infinite, or near-infinite, that more than one speck got perfectly lucky. Do the other guys buzz our houses in their disks? I dunno.

So? I have no idea, but I'm curious. I've definitely had many experiences that were either trivially psychic, like involuntary telepathy, or just coincidence (maybe two friends, in close proximity for months, will voice each others' thoughts at least twice a week, etc).

Funny you bring this up -- I just stumbled across this shit-circus last night.

Ghosts/Spirits - I've had odd experiences, but nothing I would consider definite. Could have been swamp gas n shit.
Bigfoot - Nah.
Aliens - Abductions and all of that shit? no. Alien life in general? Yeah.
Blacks - Jury is out.

I think that all the stuff listed above MIGHT be possible, but I have never seen anything positively identifiable as any of the above. Perhaps I would just like for these things to be true.

Well, I have a friend who is almost as hairy as bigfoot, and I have seen something resembling blacks, but that may just be make-up.

I'm kind of pissed off that I have never seen a UFO.

Ghosts - Yes
Bigfoot - Yes, new species are discovered all the time.
Aliens - Yes, and I have seen a UFO. Plus the explanation that Vas gave.
Blacks - Yes. When you see one, you will shit bricks.

Ghosts- Hell yeah. I've spent a lot of time wandering around abandoned houses-ghosts definitely exist.
Bigfoot- I won't count it out. That said, its a little dumb
Aliens- Sure. I saw some UFO's a couple times, but I they were probably just military prototypes
Blacks-no question. I have seen.

Ghosts
I don't know what to believe. I'm still stuck in the science vs. religion thing and probably will be until the day I die, and ghosts can't really exist in a world of science, so wtf already? I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinion about this.

Bigfoot
I immediately think of Harry and the Henderson's and how dumb this entire myth is.

Aliens
While I hardly believe in little green men with large shiny black eyes, I do believe that there's alien life all over the multiple galaxies. It just seems more unbelievable and incredible that most earthlings could be naive enough or even conceited enough to believe that nothing exists except us supreme beings, whether it be 'human', animal, insect or plant - something. I would put my money on this before anything else in this list.

Blacks
While this species seems to not exist in the Mountain regions, there has been scientific data that they do around the coasts, specifically porches/stairwells.

dent:

Not necessarily true. It's entirely possible there are aspects of the universe that are too subtle for us to detect at this time, sort of how Copernicus couldn't detect quarks or didn't predict quantum mechanics. I see no problem with the possibility that paranormal shit may exist regardless of the fact that I have never seen any proof of it.

dent:
I'm still stuck in the science vs. religion thing

There may be no fundamental conflict between the god thing and science. Of course, the religions and their whacky notions that accrete around the god thing are absurd, for example: creationism and sin.

Also,

For all of you that have gotten to see UFO's where I haven't, well, fuck you for being so lucky.

I don’t believe in ghosts.

There must be life of some sort elsewhere in the universe, given its size.

I don’t think a large, Bigfoot type of primate could remain undetected in North America but I think it’s conceivable that such a creature could survive anonymously in the jungles of the southern hemisphere.

Blacks are a figment of Rupert Murdoch’s imagination. Could you imagine COPS with out them?

As a child, I lived in an old house the original owner/builder of which died of a heart attack outside the front door. My room was his study and I would often wake up in the morning to find my door not how I left it ( open when left closed or vice-versa ) or lights on, radio on etc. My parents denied all responsibility for this, and I have never been known to sleepwalk. My sister also remembered ( we were asked later by the new owners after we moved out ) waking up on several occasions to find an unknown elderly lady sitting beside her bed and watching her sleep. This lady did not vacate the room by conventional means. I also have several cats around me that have not been in existence in the corporeal world for several years, but were much loved pets prior to moving on. So yes, I do believe that ghosts, or what we call ghosts, exist. ( But I am starting to wonder about Ghostrider, where is that nigger?)

Bigfoot, the Yeti, et al, ( every major continent including Australia has legends of this sort ) I am a little more dubious about, although most legends of this type have some sort of basis in fact.

Alien life is a given- we can not be alone in this universe or any other and to think we are that special is the height of arrogance.

As for believing in Blacks- I work with a couple of Afrikaaners who are convinced of their existence, and my current neighbours do seem to have an awfully dark suntan.

Ghosts
Yes. See aliens.

Bigfoot
A few months ago, while searching for Nessie, an expedition found a new breed of giant frogs that jump on the bottom of the (very deep) lake Loch Ness, at water pressures that are supposed to squish absolutely any living thing. But, they be jumping, OK?

Face it: we don't know what the fuk is up. We can't even find our lost scientists at sea (see: Jim Gray), and can't see shit right under our nose (see: newly found Amazonian tribe). We may well have bigfeet roaming our forests and just think that they're tourists when we spot them from afar.

Aliens
Probability and chemistry say yes: given the size of the universe, if the chance of starting DNA-based life on other planets is identical to the chance of starting one on Earth, we should have living fukers roaming everywhere. They don't have to be bipedal, but they could have thousands of years of evolution on us and could have gone through all the phases we're going through now. Or, they could be so different that there's no hope of making any contact ever,

By the way, ghosts could be aliens trying to communicate.

But, for all we know, other chemistries of life could have greater chance of beginning in chemical reactions, so the density could even be greater than we know. I also suspect we have alien life right here, in the solar system, but it just works so differently that even when we land on, say, Jupiter, we won't know they are alive until a long while after we colonize.

I'm willing to believe that there's a dimension of consciousness beyond the life and death of biological organisms. But that's as far as I'll go, for now.

Ghosts: Yes. I think that if someone dies in a horrible way the spirit is never truly at peace and therefore has to fuck with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Bigfoot: No. It would have been discovered by now.

Aliens: Yes. We are merely a microscopic speck in the universe and it's ridiculously shortsighted to think we're the only "living" things in it.

Blacks: Yes.

ghosts: there have been weird occurrences that made no fuking logical sense on at least 4 different occasions, so yeah. big possibility.

bigfoot: still iffy. if there is such out there, it would not be hard to track down, given genuine determination. take that nessie thing f/instance: if whoever really wanted to find this thing, they'd drain the fukin' lake. as for bigfoot, same concept: burn the fukin' forest.

aliens: no experiences there. however, my convictions regarding which lead me to believe that the government is hiding something.

blax: don't listen to anything sexpony says, ever.

Ghosts: I have a very straightheaded friend who absolutely swears he saw one once while driving his car through down a country road near where i live. I saw him just after and he was actually white as a sheet and almost crying. So i dunno.

Bigfoot: Large, hairy beast? Sunny 77!

UFOs: We're obviously not alone in the universe, its ridiculous to think so. When i was about 12 me and my old man were walking the dog and we saw a light in the sky darting about at crazy speeds, changing direction like a motherfucker. We watched it for about 2 mins then it disappeared. My old man is the most skeptical fock in the world, and he believes to this day what we saw was a "UFO" of some kind. There is a large MOD base near where we saw it though, so it could have been some wierd experimental aircraft or something. But funnily enough my dad worked at the large MOD base in question, and he hadnt seen any experimental aircraft.(or so he told me........)

Blacks: I live in an English seaside town. Black people?!!?

UFOs: its a bit hard to know for sure without any solid evidence...something like a piece of alien spacecraft would be good.

Ghosts and Bigfoot: No. They are products of human gullibility and human flim-flammery.

Extraterrestrial life: Possible, perhaps even probable. But have we been visited by flying saucers? Very unlikely.

Blacks: When I see a dead body, perhaps I'll believe.

Several Murri and Koori tribes of eastern Australia have dreamtime legends about an ancient battle between their ancestors and a race of hairy apemen.[citation needed] The stories share some common elements. The aboriginals won the battle quite decisively. This is attributed to their weapons including the spear and war boomerang. The apemen fought bare handed. The surviving creatures ran off to the mountains from which they occasionally invaded the forests to steal human babies.

Neat. I've seen it posited that this type of legend, and the belief in Bigfoot-style creatures, is a kind of species race-memory of the time when Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens co-existed.

Ghosts: When I was young, I found out that the previous home-owner's grandson had hung himself in my closet. Looking back, I can say that there were many strange incidents in the house (and, most often, in the room) that can be most easily explained by a young imagination filtering sensory input with such information. There were, however, some that were confirmed by friends and family. Twice, the front door opened and slammed closed three times and locked from the inside and on many occasions, the blinds in my bedroom would flip from the fully "up" closed position to the fully "down" closed position. Both occurences were experienced by multiple people and the door event was reported by two people who had no knowledge of the phenomena having happened before-hand.

Bigfoot: I know some hillbillies that could likely be mistaken for bigfoot, but have never been close enough to the legend to formulate an opinion on it.

Aliens: Both my grandparents and my dad had two incredibly weird stories on the topic. They entertained the idea that what they saw may possibly have been of extraterrestrial origin.
I have seen a couple of things in the night sky that I thought were questionable, but I haven't seen anything like the triangles or saucers of lore.
I do, however, find it harder to believe we are alone in the universe than otherwise. Are we being visited... Maybe. I would think that any being advanced enough to travel the vast expanses of space would have to be a least amused enough by our retarded collective to at least pop in to watch for a minute - like stopping to watch some intergalactic trainwreck.

Black People: I WANNA BELEEF DAT.

I believe that the only life after death is the life that your body helps support as it decomposes and becomes compost. That is, of course, if you're not pumped full of toxic chemicals and left in a coffin to slowly melt into a puddle of worthless bullshit just because some asshole relatives wanted to display your corpse like a mannequin for some demented goodbye party.

The Native Americans did that shit right. Go out in flames and let your dust mix right back into what it came from.

I've never seen or heard a ghost. I've never experienced anything I would consider "paranormal".

Aliens? Yeah, there's other life out there. Just a hunch. It's a big endless universe.

Niggers? Yes, they're the republican party of moral majority. The neoniggers, that is. Black gold. Texas tea.

I've had a few ghost encounters in a house I used to live in. It was way old(built in the early 40's), and apparently it was built on top of an old well that used to be a gathering place for the locals a long long long time ago.

I used to see apparitions at night rather frequently. I asked my landlord about it and that's when he told me about the well and how it was kind of the "center of town" for a while. He lived in the house prior to me and told me he also used to see apparitions quite frequently. Unfortunately he didn't have a specific story as to why there would be a ghost(i.e. mary sue riley was murdered by her jealous husband in 1873).
