A while ago somebody posted a link to a blog about a man's discovery of a tangled mass of plastic debris in the Atlantic Ocean off of Florida. Or at least I think it's the Atlantic Ocean off of Florida. I forgot to clipswarm it and my memory sucks. Can anybody help me find the link? Thank you.

Google oceanic trash or something, I found this about the "Pacific Gyre."

Those are both excellent articles, but the one I'm thinking of is a photojournal of a guy sailing or motoring or whatever and he comes across what looks like a mirage of trash, so much trash it's like it's land, but he plows through it anyway.
Thank you though. More thank yous to whoever finds the article, if it exists and my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

That link is amazing and so identical to my imagined 'plastic island in the ocean' link I'm disheartened. I'm worried I made it all up. Oh well. I'm still open minded to the possibility of there being a trash island link out there somewhere though.

Dinoza what flashed into my memory is Mundhra's link.
Off Florida we have the 'Great Tire Reef' to be proud ofhttp://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-02-17-florida-reef_x.htm Also there have been a number of cases where trash and medical waste would wash up for weeks at a time, usually traced back to a Cruise Ship or Naval Vessel. Other than that I've seen everything from a Couch to a dead bloated Pig offshore in S Florida but not in great globs. Most stuff doesn't linger very long because of the Gulf Stream Running North at 6mph.
