I tried out the new Alpha Queue RSS Feed today on both my home and office machines. I like it. It seemed to work fine until this afternoon. When I load the feed now, I get an error that says, The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. I tried reloading the browser, and adding the feed again. I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.8. with fasterfox.
Anybody else having this problem?

Have you tried holding down Ctrl while hitting F5?
The feed should work in Firefox 2+ fo sho. Have you tried it in IE or Opera or on a different box? I bet it's just that install that is somehow wonky.

I've tried setting this up but I can only find one feed for the swarm and it's just the front page. How do I find the AQ feed URL? I want to set that up on my laptop when I get it back from Dell. |

Tried this out with the Sage plugin for Firefox. It's a bit of a clunky plugin. I'll look for a better one. If anyone has any suggestions for RSS plugins, bring them up here please. |

Occasionally, the voting frame doesn't show up. Is there a work around for this?

I suspect what's happening here is the link you're clicking on in the RSS feed is getting processed out of the Alpha Queue in between the time your feed reader loads it, and you click it. Try hitting refresh just before clicking, and see if that greatly reduces the number of times it happens.

Refreshing doesn’t seem to make a difference. The page with the voting link and the submitted site loads, then only the submitted page loads immediately thereafter. If I hit the back button and the stop button fast enough then just the voting frame appears.

Oh, this problem. When this happens, it's because the site being voted on has code to redirect you away from the voteframe. There used to be a note at the top of the Alpha Queue about this. There's no easy way to fix this in the RSS feed; you'd have to use the Alpha Queue itself, which has a (problem?) link to get around it.

I am trying this out just using firefox ( no feed reader) and find when I vote, the frame space reverts to the front page or
AQ page banner, but the rest of the page is still the link. Is this because I don't have a reader in place, or is it a problem of another sort?

No. I get the same thing with the Wizz RSS News Reader plugin and Firefox.
Even if I click the LinkSwarm logo to go to the front page, it stays stuck like that. I have to use a direct request via bookmark to get out. I've never had this happen while using the AQ link on the front page to access the Queue.

This is really a function of frames themselves and my not doing anything particularly smart about hiding their shortcomings. What would you prefer to see happen there? The whole tab refresh to LS? The tab disappear? Turn your desktop into a nonstop partybarge?

The whole tab refreshing to my LS Queue would be cool. Or whatever strange place you'd like to send us. Please include heebiejeebie head, thanks. |

Now that I know the why of it, I don't really care to much about the fix. I can fix it by closing the tab and starting again, but refresh back to the AQ would be good.
