A lot of forum communities enjoyed a huge surge in popularity during 2004 and 2005...and those same forum communities are dropping to pre-surge levels...
not just Linkswarm...there's a lot of forum communities out there going through the same slump...
personally, I think it has a lot to do with the popularity of places like myspace, facebook, stumbleupon, etc...
the times...they are a-changing...

If LinkSwarm were to disappear in a nasty little black pfft of smoke right when I hit the submit button, I could relax knowing I never had to go to other peoples' forums and post painful little bump-whoring smiley-floods to try and drum up traffic to my own site. That's something I'll always have, and you can never take it away.
