I'm trying to find a Reverse DNS "whois" lookup utility (Windows platform) that will return street address info. It has to support automation - in other words, it can accept a command-line parameter (the IP address) and provide text output.

Does anyone know of a small, free (or with a distribution license) utilty that could handle this? I've scoured the web, but the best one I can find so far is from Sysinternals, and most of the time it can't find the whois info.

Thx.

Sam Spade used to have a Windows client, but it looks like they're experiencing some sort of grief. I'll keep digging around for you.

I was going to recommend sysinternals, but obviously that is not what you are looking for.

Try SmartWhois

metatron: ye olde NSLOOKUP

^ I looked at that too, but I couldn't figure out how to use it for this purpose. It does not help that it doesn't recognize the "help" parameter...

But I think I might have found something that works: Phil Ottewells Free Software. I compiled it for Windows, and it seems to work great.

The problem with SysInternals is it doesn't let you specify a NIC server, and it's really kind of stupid. This one doesn't have that problem. I'll let you know how it goes.
