Although predictable at times, Mr. Brooks is still an amazing movie. Well written, well directed, and well acted. Dane Cook provides a good performance as an antsy wanna-be killer (I can't stand him as a comic) but he didn't really bring anything special to the role. I don't see him playing many serious parts in the future. Kostner is pretty solid as usual, and because he's a serial killer this time 'round and not his usual boring-ass self, he's actually entertaining. William Hurt's performance is the most interesting, but I won't go into why I think that.
This movie is pretty damn original for being comprised of so many over-played clichés. As a fan of the serial killing world, I found this film's take on the mentality to be very refreshing, and the Hannibal Lecter-like logicality was extremely enjoyable. It's hard to give praise to this movie without spoiling the fuck out of it, so I'll stop. If you want to kill two hours, check it out.
