Hey Guys,
After a few weeks of finding complications in the "collaboration" software we are using we have determined a few things.
A) Collaboration with no versioning features in the software is difficult and,
B) Nope that's it... Just the first thing...
I'm creating this thread to provide instructions on How To: Get the CelTx Software, Set it up and get started with the most current way we are going to be working on sharing our progress on the script writing segment of this project.
If anyone finds an alternative software they think is superior, please share with us in this thread.
1. Download and Install the CelTx application.
2.Create a CelTx account and Login to CelTx for the first time.
3.Personal Message me with your CelTx user name so that I can give you access to the MasterFile.
**NOTE** At this point I would like to take a moment to explain how we will be sharing our work. Since the versioning feature is not yet available in this software we can't have everyone working on and overwriting the Master (this will cause headaches when other peoples work gets overwritten).
That being said, everyone who gets access to the MasterFile will have full access over it so we are just asking that you read over the steps listed below and DO NOT OVERWRITE THE MASTER . Message me if you do though... Mistakes happen and I have a backup!
Basically each person will be able to download a copy of the master, then copy it to a new file to do their work. They will only upload the newly created file. I will now lay out the steps on how to do so. If there are any questions at all, please PM me.
4. Once I have granted access, open CelTx again and at the main click "download a project". You will have access to the MasterFile called "Ethel's Diner". Choose a location to save the project files and download away!
5. Immediately once the project opens up and you see the screenplay click "File --> Copy Project". Change the "Copy of Ethel's Diner" to your CelTx user name and then OK.
You now have your very own version to play with. So close the original.
This is where you can add new scenes, write notes etc. (If you write click on the left hand side folder LinkSwarm Members, you can add your own Screenplay with your CelTx username for general notes). When you are ready to have your submissions added to the master do the following.
6. With YOUR project open (NOT THE MASTER) click the Web Services button at the top right corner. Click to "Upload" your project.
7. Once the upload is complete you will have additional web services, including "Access" Click here and add my CelTx account to the Access list.
My CelTx account name is JBlackCloak
8. After clicking "Update Access" you will be able to let me know that you have made some changes and I can add them to the Master file for everyone else to download.
**LAST NOTE**
Each time you want to make some new additions go ahead and download a fresh copy of the master by following step #4. Overwrite the master copy you have stored on your machine, take a look to make sure your latest additions have been added, then again Copy the Project to your name like Step #5 and begin again.
I hope these instructions are pretty clear. Please let me know if I can add anything else.

BUMP.
Hey All,
I wanted to make a quick note regarding a new addition to the screenplay's Master File (available for download) and the site where the master file components are read only.
After this weeks meeting we decided to add a list of all the scenes we are considering and the notes about each scene.
If you click the SceneList link you will note References back to the scene numbers on the ScreenPlay page if something has been written for that scene. I have spelled out that we have not written anything for a scene if we haven't.
This will give folks the opportunity to see our progres as I will update this as we go, also allowing people to grab a scene they think they would like to take a hack at...
If you have any other thoughts for scenes in mind, or just basic suggestions of what should go into a particular scene, please go ahead and throw ideas into the Plot Points Thread and we can all discuss amendments to the Master as we go.
Thanks Dudes! |
