As some of you regular Swammers know, LORDKAHUNA and I fantasize about breaking into the world of screenwriting/independent film. We’ve goofed around a fair bit (stay tuned for our second annual coverage of Toronto’s FanEXPO in the fall) and generally have a blast doing so.
A couple weeks ago as LK and I sat drinking gourmet coffee at an undisclosed location, we discussed a few of our ongoing projects including “Ethel’s Diner”; a hardcore slasher/revenge storyline we have been working on.
Early on in this story’s conception we had decided that we should try our hand at filming this ourselves, because point of fact, we are amateurs and if there is one genre where you can still have a success even if the flick isn’t technically perfect… it’s horror.
Anyways, I believe I made a comment like, “Hey once we’re done planning, we should invite the Swarm to participate…”
Well, after furious excited discussion this forum was born… so away we go!
The Project Concept
LK and I have agreed to make this a collaborative project. In the following thread we will layout our current plot points and then for those interested, we will also provide access to the screenplay (The first 20ish pages).
With everyone’s help we will make the characters / locations / concepts / scenes / endings rock out as only a true collaboration can. We’ll have committee type decisions and attempt to stay away from Bush-like vetoes’.
Once we have a fairly complete script, we will open up other threads (special effect ideas, music/score, fundraising, filming, post production)
The hope is that within the LS community we will even find our key actors and crew for filming! Yes we have even toyed with the idea of online video type auditions for some of the key roles.
At this time there is no real plan to make monetary gain from this project. That being said, in the event that we end up making profit we will dole out a share of the extra cash on a points based system. 50% of profit would stay with our company and 50% would get split based upon the points. (Please don’t let money be a driving factor in your desire to get involved with this project)
This project will be owned by our company Black Cloak Entertainment. (Yes our website is not superfantastico and filled with content… We know)
The Rules
1) As I believe vasudeva mentioned, Like InkSwarm, so too will this forum be moderated to keep it on track. Please feel free to read all the content inside the forum, contribute or ignore it completely. LK will crush those who dare inject unicorn asshaberdashery here….
2) We use an online collaboration tool called CelTx to work on our screenplays. For those of you who would like to help with collaboration I would ask that you read over the new thread I created:

If you don't really feel like helping out with the writing process, but still want to read the script thus far and see all the notes, there is a web page you can bookmark with clickable link type things on the bottom left of the page for seeing the different sections.

Cool idea. I offer rotoscoping and rendering services to be used at your demented whims and psychopathic visions. I also have access to various classical musicians (viola, violin etc..)a well if you need background audio.
