I have re-rediscovered Bluegrass as of late, and I crave it far more powerfully than any other genre I have ever been involved with before. I have had my iTunes on this station 24-7 for some months now. I ask you, dear and trusted Swarmers, are any of you fine guys and gals into this music ? More importantly, can you hook a comrade up with some mp3's ?

I have some Grass Cats, but that's about it. I need more, I need it all. We have some excellent music shops here, so I can find the obscure stuff if you point me in the right direction.

I was born with a banjo on my knee... and even after the tumor was cut off I still grew to love bluegrass.
So yeah GR my man, I've got your hookup at least for a few good albums and recordings. I'll trade you it all for a mason jar of good Wisconsin shine.

PM me and we'll figgure it out. Server/Torrent/Gmail/snailmail

I just love bluegrass; used to listen to some great radio in Atlanta. And after picking up the fiddle, I have a renewed interest, but unfortunately nothing on CD to share. Can I get on the download list?

I have sent messages with login info to those who have replied to this thread. For best results,I would use a regular FTP program because a lot of times it doesn`t play nice with web browsers etc...

Each of you have a folder to put shit in so there isn`t a bunch of random shit all over the place.

There's Blugrass band from the southside of Chicago that the kids seem to like. They are called Leadfoot....might want to myspace them.

This lapse in activity has been brought to you by the Florida Keys. When thinking of slacking off and drinking too much in the sun Please think of the Florida Keys. This has been a Message from the Florida Keys Department of Alcoholism and Fishing Dependence.

Sorry dudes, I'll upload ASAP this week.

Ok, so I listen to all sorts of music, and I love bluegrass. There are so many awesome groups out there it is hard to pick one or two as prime examples. However given the eclectic nature of LinkSwarmees I think you might find Danny Barnes really interesting. He current music isn't bluegrass at all, not even close. He comes from bluegrass roots and plays a bluegrass-style banjo, which is the only reason I mention him in this thread. I'm still trying to wrap my head around his music. I suspect chemical augmentation is truly necessary, but whatever, it is still some funky stuff.

Chicken in the breadpan pickin' out dough
Why is the "chicken in breadpan pickin' out dough" anyways? Do chickens really like bread dough more than their corn feed? I haven't asked one in a while.

I usually try to ask them why they are crossing the road instead.

And what the fuck exactly is shortnin' bread?

Here is a story filled with win.

Last Saturday I was headed for the student union at UW-Madison for pitchers of brew and live bluegrass bands. Walking across campus, I fell in beside the Dalai Lama, who was heading to some destination on campus. It was kinda cool walking along with a living deity, but he really didn't say much. At least i got that going for me.

That's cool... hangin' with the llamas. I hear they can spit pretty far.

I've got a few gigs of bluegrass, too, if you don't have enough collected by now. Some of it's in FLAC format, though.

I've got New Grass Revival, Yonder Mountain String Band, and some classic old stuff: Doc Watson, Scruggs, Bill Monroe.

I PM'd senor smoke about getting in on some of that ftp space. If I don't hear back soon, I'll make some rapidshares or something.

I might just batch-convert the FLAC files if you can't play them. That'll be quicker to upload anyway.

^The man speaketh the truth!

When I have someone asking me for their login info that they lost, and I have to browse through a shitload of usernames that haven`t been active,I just use that special Kung-Fu delete button.I figure if someone wanted back in,all they have to do is holler.

Anyways,Ghost,Jwalker and MstrLance have been added for the bluegrass swap-meet.

Anyone else?

Okay, after a bit of a false start, hammering out the proper combo of app, settings, and naming conventions... boy, it's been a while since I ftp'd anything. Long enough to forget that filenames shouldn't have blank spaces... anyway, there's a zip full of classics ('59-'66) in the 'Bluegrass' folder now, with several more to follow. Next up is a strictly instrumental album by Flatt and Scruggs with Doc Watson.

Sorry about leaving that assload of loose files that only took the first word of the filename. I'd delete them myself, but I'm getting 550 "file not found" errors when I try.

You may want to check out

'Will the Circle be Unbroken' - it was made some years ago by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, but they made it with a pile of bluegrass legends.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_the_Circle_Be_Unbroken

I used to play rhythm guitar in a little group led by an awesome fiddler named Amy Lounder, she moved to halifax and is in a new band now, they're pretty good.
'Contra' is a type of called pattern dance, that is surprisingly fun to do.

http://www.smokincontraband.com/contraFlash.html

They're on tour now, and i get to see her again in a couple of weeks.
