What was the first real song that you liked, and when was that? Meaning not "Snoopy vs the Red Baron" or "Mary Had a Little Lamb" but rather the first rock/pop thing that left an impression on you whaen you were first old enough to decide these things?
For me it was "Come Sail Away" around 1978. Music didn't exist for me before that. |

Haha. I can still remember when my 8th grade class had a party at the local roller rink, and we dedicated this song to our principal, Sister Leonita. LOLZ.
Back on topic, probably "Convoy."

I remember being a little kid when Pyromania came out, which was probably my first exposure to rock. My parents listened to Disco and Soul (they are mega-white too), so it was like something totally new for me. I think it was "Fooling" that made me nuts about rock.
F-F-F-Foolen'!!

I'm not sure how old I was; definitely not pooping my pants, but probably not 5 either.
I'm also not sure who sang it.

I guess I was about six when I discovered The Beatles. So, 73 or so. Anything and everything by The Beatles. I started sitting in a chair in the living room with them on the stereo and air-drumming along. I bitched and moaned so long that my mom finally bought me a crappy used POS drumset. I spent the next 12 years or so playing in the basement. Sometimes 10 or 12 hours a day. The rest is history.

Saturday Night by the Bay City Rollers. In 2nd and 3rd grade if it rained we were allowed to stay in class at recess and bring tunes. Someone brought this in as a 45 rpm.
Rocked my world.

This is NOT something to be proud of. Did you have a pair of Roller Strollers of your very own as well?

The more I think about it, it's really a tossup between "The Night Chicago Died" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." My sisters had a shitload of LPs and 45s that I would listen to while they were all at school.

The Night Chicago Died
Billy, Don't Be A Hero
Seasons In The Sun
These were all roughly the same time for me. Hard to choose the 'one'.
