Even though I went to film school, I have a penchant for "bad" movies.

The Benchwarmers
The Mummy
Revenge Of The Mummy
The Scorpion King
Big Trouble In Little China
Ultraviolet
I Robot
(Pretty much any new horrible Sci-Fi Movie, like Firefly)
Romeo & Juliette (the shit version with Leo)
Planet of the Apes (All FIVE in the Series)

What bad movies do you like?

Big Trouble In Little China is always a winner. In the same vein:

Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins
Terrible fucking movie, but I have to watch it every time.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

However, i'm not so sure it qualifies as bad.

I heart how it says Ghost Rider right beneath this post.

Just about every awesome movie from the '80s is technically terrible (Big Trouble being one of the finest), except Buckaroo Banzai, which is awesome and not terrible at all, except for Mssr. Banzai's triple-badass role as Ninja/Brain-surgeon/Rockstar.

The flipside to that would be Howard the Duck, which is highly terribly and only slightly awesome, if only for the part where Principle Skinner's tongue goes buckwild.

I don't think I've been tricked into loving a terrible movie since 1992, though I will apologize for Hedwig even as I defend it.

I first saw this a long time ago and this by far, has to be one of the worst, but I'll watch it every time

I believe this one could make Xanadu look almost good

QFMFT

I saw Phantasm as a double feature with Death Ship. Portals to Hell and ghost Nazis caused many years worth of nightfrights.

Edit: Let's not forget Flash Gordon, with the Queen soundtrack and all.

I love Hedwig. Although the show is much better than the movie. I was in a sold out production last summer here in Portland with Wade McCollum and Julianna Jaffe. I truly wish it were still running.

Also, I can't believe that I forgot "Ice Pirates"!

The little "*" means that I also love this movie. No asterisk doesn't mean that I don't like it, I may just not have seen it, or I like the film, but I won't watch it if it comes on HBO or anything.

I have to give a special mention to Beastmaster and Conan The Barbarian. But so far my big props go to Congo, that movie is so friggin bad but I love every minute of it. I think its cause of the monkeys (ok Apes whatever). Simians are just cool.

I had more to add to the list, but I am now unsure as to what we should qualify as a "bad" movie. What should be our yard stick? www.rottentomatoes.com? IMdB? I checked both sites (rotten's percentage versus IMDb's user rating 1-10 stars, which easily can be made into a percentage). I used The Matrix Reloaded, Contact and Congo as a controls, and the results were pretty much the same, except on Congo where RottenTomatoes gave it a %20 lower rating than IMDb's user rating. But here's what's fucked up, both sites gave Reloaded around %70 approval rating?!?! I was fairly certain that the two sequals to the original Matrix were technically and artistically inferior films to the point that they'd get at least below %50.

We could drill it down to one reviewer but that's a bit of a shot in the dark. See, Ken Turin has been with the LA Times for years, but he's a bit heavy handed on the crapyarding. He came into a class once and he rather plainly said, "I get paid because people find my reviews of films to be consistent with their liking, the profession is based on personal bias, the key is if your bias and the general public's bias are one and the same." So we need an equalizer that can take all the bias and sort of level it out to a resonable rating, but it looks like rotten tomatoes just has so many reviews paid to give good reviews that Even Star Wars Episode one didn't get a rotten review!?!?!

How are we going to officiate the bad-ness of the films we like? I mean this is, after all, a Linkswarm thread and we can't jolly well half ass this thing. We need damn near divine perfection!

I was going to mention it, but i'm not sure it's qualifies as bad. I'm glad they left the rather muddled ending though, and skipped on the alien sub-plot.
