I know that a lot of us here play instruments and a few of us have even discussed having an area to post some of our shit. Vas had mentioned maybe implementing a section for us with the new LS launch, but this will work for now. Think of this as the virtual LS jam thread.
Post mp3's, full albums, videos - whatever. The only exception is the posting of any Grindcore will get your mother raped.
------------------------------------------
I just bought a new Ibanez GSA60 and figured I would break it in with a sloppy Steve Vai cover of "For the Love of God". This guitar isn't really built for this type of playing, but I figured I would try (even though I don't know it all). Sorry about the sound quality, but I had to keep it low because of the kids - hence the annoying sound of string picking.
For the Love of God

as soon as my bass is fixt, I'll share something. It'll be an mp3, because I'm not a self absorbed douche that need to be looked at on video. My world is an experience that only the power of your completely blank and open mind can handle, like an explosion of matter unfolding into a new universe on the planes of existence. I'm humble like that.
good "jam", dude. Maybe we can do a thing were someone uploads a beat, someone lays down some bass, then guitar, and so forth. get some collective ass kickery up hizzy.
Vas had mentioned maybe implementing a section for us with the new LS launch what the shit? after I talked about it forever and people made me feel like a dick? well, fucking ok.

If it helps make everyone feel more confused, I don't remember either of these conversations taking place at any time in my life.
EDIT: Which is really neither here or there. Full speed ahead. It's the eye of the tiger, and all that.

Wow, if our band cannot survive this thread, how the fuck are we gonna tour in a tour bus? Fuck it, I'm quitting the band and going solo. And, I'm taking the name "The Links Warm Fagglebificles" with me.

Nice work Dent! What did you have playing the drum and bass in the background? Not that I have any money to pay for anymore new stuff, just curious like a dog. (Never had a cat, so I don't really know how curious they are. However, dog's are curious, unless they're dying or something)
BTW - You were right about the Ibanez not being the axe for Vai. Put up some Vai covers with you on a Vintage Strat!! I bet that would rock this place like a gay Republican statutory rape scandal!!

Well, a Strat would be MUCH worse and entirely too limiting because of the whammy system. Vai uses a Jem Ibanez that has a Floyd Rose floating bridge system to get those funky sounds, plus a double humbucker for a neck pickup, which gives tone + harmonics, all which my Nez doesn't allow for.
I just tried to match the song note for note, until the last minute when I just winged it.
The backing track is a backing track for the song cut by the studio. I DL'd it a while ago.

Jwalker - I thought you were kidding about the electric fiddle. Jam4 was my fav out of the bunch, sounded like Tubular Bells in the beginning - xtra points for you.
Here's a decent recording of For the Love of God that I made over the week. I did this in Garageband 2.x.
So, I've got this cool 6+ minute bluesy backing track - anyone interesting in laying some guitar/bass/piano/fiddle over it? I figure we can swap the file back and forth and take like 30 second spots and then pass it along to the next swarmer. It would rock hearing all of our collectively different styles on one track.

Which platform are you using? I'm not sure about PC, but I've heard that Cakewalk is the equivalent to Garageband.
Also, "decent sound recording" is going to be your set-up going into the computer, not so much the software.

^ I had the digitech RP300A for a while. I totally dug it, though, digitech is pretty hit or miss most of the time. Some of their effects sound too forced for their own good. Boss' GT-x pedals are insanely sweet. I played on a GT-3 for a while and loved it. It takes some time to hit that tone you're going for, but once you hit it you'll have an eargasm.
Line6's PODxt Live pedals are nice, and unlike other processors, you can edit via a nice visual interface on your computer. I haven't had any experience with the guitar model, but I have the bass version and it rocks out w/cock out.
As far as single effects go, I have none (for bass). I'd like to get a moog pedal someday, and I'd like to get a digitech bass whammy as soon as I can both find one and have the money for it (this has yet to happen at the same time).

acoustica is decent, and cheap. possibly free if you are a dirty pirate. The real question is, what means are you going to use to get the sound from your synth to your computer? that part will usually cost more than the software, but in some cases you can hit two birds with one stone - example: buying an input box that comes with mixing software. Something like that will run you $200, possibly less. If you want to go the midi route, you'll need to buy a midi-box and/or card, cables, and the midi software (expensive for good software as far as I know). Worst case scenario is you plug your synth straight into the mic input on your computer and record that way. If you do that, there is freeware you can use to record (Google it), and Audacity is a good freeware program for tweaking tracks.
give me a price range and I can throw some product links at you
