I mentioned this movie in a comment some months back, but given the paucity of new content in the 'Swarm lately, here are some reasons why Jesus Camp should be watched.
Approx 10 min into the flik, we are treated to a scene of 300 or so children praying "in tongues," the sheer insanity of this can hardly be described. While there are no scenes of outright child abuse, the psychological conditioning the children undergo while at "Jesus Camp," treads more than a few ethical lines as the children pray over a lifesize cutout of GWB and later pray for "righteous judges."
Anyhow, a worthwhile view for further insight into the madness spreading across the heartland; real horrorshow.

The scene where they effectively pray to a cardboard cutout of Bush is hilarious.

When I was in high school, these two hot sisters live across the street from me. I almost hooked up with one but thankfully I decided to accept her invitation to go to church with her.
I knew the family was a little over-religious but since just about everyone in Oklahoma is that way, I didn't think too much about it.
During this church service, this chick starts flipping out talking gibberish (in toungues allegedly) and flopping around on the floor. At that point I fukin bailed. I would go out of my way to avoid those chicks from that day on.
In interesting side note to this story: The older sister about a year later got pregnant by a black dude and the younger sister got tossed out of her house for smoking crack. I look back on this and LOL.

Very well done. Our host to this bizarre freak show (the documentator) reveals both adults and children up close and personal, as regular people with genuine (if misguided) enthusiasm. It is interesting how no one is claiming the righteous fight to be anything beyond allegorical, underscoring the revulsion and trepidation of any sane viewer. Immoral? not yet. Bat-shit crazy? perhaps.

Saw it last night after a swift d/l from a very well seeded Demonoid torrent. I didnt know much about American Evangalism, and after seeing that i dont think i want to know much more.
That "Levi" kid was one intelligent dude though, hopefully intelligent enough to realise in a few years what madness he's involved with.
Some parts were a little slow, but it sparked much discussion in my living room. |

Yeah, Levi did seem pretty smart...but he could'nt out smart that

Levi did seem pretty smart, but Ted Haggard (repressed pervo that he is) sure saw through his schtick fast when he asked him "So, do you think people are listening to your preaching for your content or because you're a cute kid? . . . Well, work the cute kid thing until you get older and then maybe you'll have some content". ZING! |
