Anyone do any decompiling/debugging/disassembly/cracking lately? I am stuck trying to learn IDA PRO 5.0 and doing some reverse engineering. However, I am absolutely clueless. I don't want anyone to hold my hand here, just point me to a good tutorial that explains the basics (like the registers and what the heck does "push" or "mov" mean?). And yes, I am a fucktard.
little help?

I learned how to crack shareware with softICE about a million years ago, and have forgotten most of it.
Good luck; you'll need it.

The chick at the vampyre website was or still is a member of a cracking crew. You should contact her.

Push refers to putting data on the local stack, dta is popped to retrive.
Mov is a memory to memory transfer, usually between a register and or the accumulator.
What processor is in there? I can send you a data sheet with a language guide if you need it.

Big Mc,
I may be way off by what a processor is as far as decompiling, but here go's. IDA PRO 5.0 has alot of asm processors to pick from, the only one that I can get to work is the "Intel 80x86 metapc" But it can check assembly language of Athlon 64 processors if I had one.
Any data sheets you have at all would be great.
I have googled myself to death trying to find some ebooks on this and the best I got was something in what looked like sweedish. I was really happy when I found it but then I got the zip file and opened the PDF, I coulda cried.
Oh, I also have Smartcheck, VBdecompiler Lite, w32dasm, Ollydbg and softIce. But softice and smartcheck give me bubkis when analyzing so I said fuck you jobu I do it myself and I got IDA PRO 5.0 which is supposed to be the baddest mofo around. Oh, I'm currently working on a test app written in VB6 that I need to find the user and pass for. I don't want the answer, I want to learn how to find the answer so I can do it again and again etc etc.
Thanks for any help. you can email me at

for the record, any echelon servers listening in out there, I am not "cracking" I am "Reverse Engineering".
