A mere login would take away all your protection. A forum where so many posts or so long on the board and entrance given by vas or something would work though. |

dragonstaff: Would it be possible to add a "links in queue" feature to the "my account" page, so that any member can quickly check to see how many links they have in the queue, and not get the 'chill out' message , or even delete a link that they realise, in the cold light of day, is not worthy of being there.
Yeah. A favorite request of beachgoat, actually. Future.

Extremely easy; also future.

Perhaps we could have a small section at say the bottom of the page, where random old links pop up... 2 at a time? They could be bordered off with a title like "From a time when... (Coke cost a nickle, etc...)
Sometimes it is nice for the new folk to see all the rockin shit that has come up in the past... |

I was searching for some older stuff today and as I clicked around I noticed a bunch of broken links.
Would it be a good idea, maybe in the comments section to have a "Report Dead Link" tool. This way just through random goofing we can spring clean?
Or is that something we wouldn't want? Not sure of a reason but I'm thinking there might be... |

Here is another detail for correction I just rediscovered for myself: If one is not logged in one can click the post reply button in a forum entry, type one's heart out, click the next Post Reply button, and get a nifty "not logged in" message negating all one's hard work. I posit that it would be more consistent to disappear the post reply button unless one was actually logged in, much as the note pad button thing is hidden in the journals when one is not logged in.
Yes, one should be smarter and make sure one is logged in before typing. Yes one can back up one's browser by one page, ctrl + c what was just typed, log in, then repost. All I am suggesting is that sanding off all those little nubbins would make the site a teensy bit more aerodynamic.

That's something that's bugged me before but I've always put it near the bottom of the TODO list. I went ahead and looked at it, since you dolts had so much fun with it. Try it out.
As for checking old links... in most cases, I consider any commentary higher on my list of cool stuff than the link itself. We could reject dead ones with no commentary. We could, if this were the kind of universe where people wanted to do work for fun, take dead ones with commentary, split them up, and find new versions or alternatives, and update the old ones so we could keep them around.

I knew there was a reason to keep them... Yeah I hear ya... I would do it when ever it popped up I think... I may even hunt them down if the mood struck me... but I doubt its worth the effort to put the method in place for the little reqard to the general masses... |

Just another thought, though it already may be built into some of the new stuff... Can we have the option to adjust how big our journal text box is?
Sometimes when you are writting something big it would be nice for the box to be closer to full screen. |

Best done client-side at the moment. Try this. Also, look into something called Bookmarklets, which are bookmarkable routines that can do things like the above.

regarding the whole favorite name thread thingy I was looking at the member list... How bout a few new options here like choose the number of members listed per page, and/or the start typing a persons user name or any part of it and have a live refreshing list?
This could be added here to... but I had another thought...
What if there was like a tiny button beside each users name... when you click the button a little popup/drop down would come up and give you a few options:
Steel - Send Steel a Message
View Steel's Profile
TextWar Steel's Stoopid Ass
Other Thoughts Here??
Anywhooo!!!

Would it be an idea to open up the submission category box on the Alpha voting page so the the Alphas can change the category of links submitted by lazy fagots who can't be bothered to change from the default "Animation" category when they submit?

???
I have a drop-down that allows me to change the selection in the Category field. I can't recall if I've ever actually used it, but it looks as if it would work.

I have that drop-down as well, but it isn't actually functional.

How about an option to make a Journal Entry Viewable for Alphas only?
There have been times where I've balked at throwing some mud in a journal that the general public could dig up but would be fine sharing with most of you fucksticks.

LOki: Alphas should still get to see Accept/ Reject/ Delete comments even if a link is accepted
This would be trivial to do if there's interest in it. I've held off because I figure it adds clutter people probably don't want to see. If you want to see this, let me know by PMing me, to avoid turning this thread into a long me-too/not-me roundtable on any one feature.
FYI, speaking of this thread, it's occurred to me recently that it would be nifty if I spent the time to go through the whole godless shit of it and winnow out the bits that I can put on my future TODO list and update my original post with that info, so you know what's on the radar. :STATUS_SHADES:

You know that little grin I get on my face just as I realize you've fully commited to this tactic so I can feel fully justified in executing some evil plan to get your full attention?
