Never has a game made me feel like I need a new computer like this one. I mean it's fun, but even on minimum the game chugs and does a disco-flash from hell for me

NO!
what are you trying to run it on?
i bought the original gothic and played it for a while but lost my game due to a harddrive failure. i never reinstalled, because it took me fucking forever to do anything.

I just read a review about how bad it is in PCGamer.

The PC Gamer review wasn't that bad. The core game is solid, just some weak initial load times, and the fucking system requirements. So far it's a fun game. LOTS AND LOTS to do, and all wide open.
As for what I'm running, something like
Windows Media Center Edition (ugh)
-Intel 3.6ghz processor
-1g DDR ram (I am upgrading to 2 as soon as I figure out which kind of fucking stick to buy x(
-80g HD
Here's the kicker
-ATI x600...
I know I need a new GPU, but with Vista (Direct X v10) on the way, If I buy now, my card could be obsolete in under a year. So I think I have to hold out until the 2'nd generation of DXv10 GPU's are out so I can get generation 1 at a non-asspounding price
