ACL Fest: YAY.
OK fukers, ACL Fest part one:
I have just now returned from seeing Thievery Corporation at Stubbs, for those who know Austin.
So. THEY FUCKING ROCKED THE HOUSE DOWN. The more I think about it the more it seems to be the just about the best show I've ever been to. I may never bother seeing another concert. It was that good. They played for about 2.5 hours and every song just got better and better like a celestial celebration leading to a cosmic climax. And there was so much killer bud in the air I didn't need my own to float away.
If you ever are so fortunate as to see them, make sure it is a stand up venue and not some gay-assed auditorium style seating type place. Fucking dance motherfucker. Par-tay.
Annihilate the nation
Build it up from the foundation

I have to agree that the stubbs shows are far better than the dirt lot with stinky sweating people drinking piss beer.
I am glad you got your 35$ worth.
Unfortunately last year I was not impressed and it was a total miss of a show, the opening act was as good.
The year before however was awesome. So I am glad to hear they are back in form. Did they have the cute little french girl with them?

They had no less than four cute girls. One of them was french, one Persian (she was supa hot), one Brazilian, and I don't know what the other one was.
I have to agree wholeheartedlu with IPPhil's assessment of the shitty site conditions at the festival. Fucking hot, crowded, but at least it wasn't dusty. But tht T.C. show at the festival was the best of friday's lot.
Why is it they don't put the festival on two or three weeks later to avoid the FUCKING HEAT?
Tonight: Massive Attack! |

And they completely ass rape Austin High on that Friday with parking and blocking shit off. I was late to class after lunch cause I to find some super secret fucking way to get to the god damn parking lot. |

Why is the Festival not moved to October?
We have to pick a weekend that doesn't have other competing major events, such as a University of Texas home football game. Logistically, the city is incapable of handling both ACL Festival and other activities that draw a large number of tourists on the same weekend because of limitations on hotel capacity and downtown parking facilities. That leaves a narrow window of availability in late September through early October.
The traditional touring season for bands is May through September. By holding the event in September, we can route bands through Austin as part of their tours and get the bands we want that make our lineups the most exciting and diverse in the industry. |
