No such show exists.
Better things to do than pay homage to a bankrupt culture and vapid consumerism:

  1. read some porns.
  2. go out and exercise and stare at the pretty girls in tight spandex.
  3. Rub your genitalia, anything!
  4. Learn how to cook
  5. develop a drinking habit
  6. learn some kung-fu or chop-socky
  7. learn proper nutition and exercise and lose some FAT
  8. Surf the internets for new friends.
  9. learn to field strip an ak-47 or sks

And remember, the network producers are happy that you are willing to evangelize their products. Score one for proper demographic marketing and audience analysis!!

Understand, which I know you won't, but I am fatalistic anyhow... These shows are not magical unicorns that appear in the glen after the solstice dawn--they are contrived and connived market ploys to further a given outlet's commercial air time so more people watch so more people BUY the latest thing on the air.

This is also why the majority of americans are fucking morons. They are easily distracted, they have no self-control nor do they have the basic humanity to realize they are killing themselves and all around them with their obese consumption of all things.

Bread and circuits! Yes, 24 has politix!

[also you can program the schedule on your handy DVR, so you don't need to know when to start]

ÞP.s. David bowie didn't have a codpiece in Labrynth as shown by this full frontal promo shot. Nice hair though.

Television itself is a frustrating thing. The Godbox is right there in the livingspace and is therefore everpresent. It promises entertainment, but rarely comes through. I often find myself cursing the lack of return on my payments to dishnetwork, but I do get ScifiFriday, so at least that's good.

Oh yeah, you forgot Dr. Who.

for several years in L.A. I didn't have a tv.

I admit I am now back on the video_drome pipe.
It is a dreamy drug indeed but much safer than heroin..

and the writing is often better than that of mainstream film. I saw that "Sentinal" piece of crap on a plane recently. About 1/10th as exciting as the most boring episode of 24..

Dude, how the hell can you forget to mention Prison Break? Prison Break is just as good, if not better than 24. 24 Season 5 pissed me off so much (Michelle, Edward, and Tony), enough where I may never tune back in.

please don't leave us, Dent!

I will check out prison break. I have heard that it is great, as is deadwood I am told.

I'm quite busy, but thankfully there is always bittorrent with the HD rips that look better than tv to boot!

See, I like when a plot is non-kid-gloves enough to take your favorite characters and move them off the stage. This is part of what I dig so much about George RR Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire".

I agree, but not really. I think starting the season with one major character worked well (Mr. Allstate), but 3 major characters to follow? GHACK!

But now you probably don't just watch because it's the same old familiar characters doing the same old familiar things. It puts emphasis on the story. If they've got the balls to ax major characters, I'm willing to follow along and see where they take us.

I suppose you could think of it as the polar opposite of some pie-faced moron popping up every 2.3 minutes going GIT-R-DONE to canned laughter.

i69edher: does no one watch the Wire?

I'm downloading season 1 as we speak. Never watched it. Heard good things.

I just got disk 2 of Season 1 of the Wire this week, haven't seen it yet, though.

I've been watching all the seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm lately - funny as hell.

oh praise Allah you've atleast heard of the wire.

-btw, the show starts of slowly but picks up momentum towards the end of the season. The last episodess of each season are brilliant.
