That's one of the finer link aggregator sites in my opinion. Nice design, intelligent peeps, good content. The beaglebot dude from there -- admin or the like -- used to pop into IRC from time to time.
I gave him fair warning that I'm totally ripping off their little live-update box some day. I got it all planned out and everything. That shit is the sweeties.

I got into a ruckus with that fellow once. I submitted a link that described how to make older Firefox extensions work with the 1.5 release, and in my description made note that after applying the fix, even the LF Toolbar worked again. He thought I was slamming his pretty lil toolbar. I told him fuk off. Or sorry. Or something.

It was your discovery of that live-update box that was the impetus for my first trip to LF. You were describing to me the concept, and then gave me the LF link to show me. I suppose that's just another fuking thing I owe you for.

Back up.
It was down for reasons of drama which prompted the creators to give up.
The recent drama on linkfilter has been a symptom of a ongoing problem, that ultimately neither Glitch nor I have any time or patience to deal with the day to day drama that seems to plague this community. When recent events threatened to involve lawyers or the FBI, it became clear that we could not continue to run the site. The "Technical Difficulties" page went up and plans were made to shut down for good.
That said, linkfilter is not going away. Darkstar has stepped up to be the sole responsible party for linkfilter. This will be a three month trial, which if successful will result in the code and data being turned over to him to run on his own servers. Glitch and myself are removing our names and email addresses from the site, except to credit as creators.
Keep in mind that this is a trial period. Should the site flounder, I will not hesitate to shut it down. If such a thing were to occur, the database would be sterilized to protect identities and released publically.
Right now, my primary concern is to get the site back up and running and to remove myself and Glitch as responsible parties.
Kind of grim.

I totally agree with tantrum. I mean FBI OR Lawyers? How could that even happen? How do you get a choice of FBI or Lawyers from day to day drama?

Well I keep railing about annonimity in the postage, lack of perscutable data, a sterile but fucntional system whereby no legal reprecussion can come of it.
Defcon for them gets to the "turn the sterilzed db over..." I say rock on! sterilize now and don't look back.
