it reminds me of a dude fronting the supremes sometimes. that doesn't make it any less cool, though.

I think the single, Crazy, has been out for a while. I went a little batshit over it back in February, but then everybody started playing it recently, and now I'm a little sick of it. I think one of the reasons I liked them before is nobody knew about them and I thought it would stay that way, and I was getting some utility out of being a music elitest, and now pop culture has taken that away from me.

so you thought they had a good single then, but not now because it's popular.
such a rough life, dude.
what about, i dunno, the entire rest of the album? please don't tell me you jump on the single bandwagon and get annoyed when other people do it later.

Exactly, listen to other tracks on the album. 'Crazy' isn't the only track on there. Listen to "Just a Thought" (track 11 maybe?) it's muy bueno.

are you comparing this to the Gorillaz, or changing the subject? If you are comparing you should immediately stab your eardrums with a sharp pencil or something.

Danger Mouse produced Gnarls Barkley as well as the most recent Gorillaz album.
I can't stand the vocals, its one of those tunes that gets lodged in your head and takes a fifth of vodka to remove. Also kind of reminds me of Macy Gray music, which I'm also not a fan of.
Mr mouse has brought upon this land the filch of the Grey album--my first listen to his oddity.
To say that he's a gorillaz in the midst is actually kinda true. He had a hand in some of that Target shopping experience.
So it's marketable, it's got a nit, and you can't rid yourselves of it because it's dang good.
I would say that you might want to hate it, but more precisely you hate the poppy stickyness that is his mastery. Do you hate Michalengelo because he does his art the way he does it--or is it the entire genre that supports such a malfesance upon us?
I say it's good, and damn the proletariat that might or might not find him good--but for his pocketbook, I hope they throw a few spare coins his way.

I remembered this thread from a stupidly long time ago because recently i had to do a "pastiche" of Crazy for my degree. Im doing a "composing for broadcast media" module and basically they teach us how to rip-off other peoples ideas and steal as much stuff as possible.
So i did a "post-rock"(+TREMELO) pastiche of it and thought some of you fucksticks might like to listen to it.
Braap: they teach us how to rip-off other peoples ideas and steal as much stuff as possible.
Perfect.
Your MP3 is derivative fingerpainting garbage.
Gnarls Barkley, now that I've gotten around to checking it out, is fabulous.
