I just replaced my MoBO and CPU. Also put in DDR2 ram 1 Gig worth" The system only sees 768mb. Is this normal?

Brand of memory?
Possible configuration issues. Usually though, it's with on-board video controllers taking up some ram. Also can you check the memory in the bios of the mobo? That would tell you if it's really being seen.
Unlikely, but possible that you have some faulty ram--do also try a different slot.

Also, depending on the board, you sometimes have to reset the bios. There should be a jumper on the motherboard. If there is no reset jumper, remove the CMOS battery for 5-10 minutes, put the battery back in, turn the computer on and reconfigure the bios settings.
I had that problem on an Abit board awhile back, and the above steps fixed it right up.

thx guys. IMBOLCPunxsutawneyPhil got it. The mobo has onboard graphics that I am not using but the standard bios set asid 254 mb aside for it. fixed now. Thx. Free blowjobs for all. See sunny77 to redeem coupon.

No idea. I use a videocard instead. The onboard graphics is ati radeon xpress 200.

So apparently according to ATI it's the best shit out there with "nano" this and "quantum" that.
Anyhow it's only supposed to take up to 128Mb. oh well, it never hurts to actually read up on the specs and equipment you got, not that I care, but you paid for it.
Or if you stole it, next time you can steal something better.

I did read up on it eventually. This is my first rebuild so I didn't know exactly. I didn't know that by default memory was allocated for that. So fuck off nigger. And yes I stole it. Stole it from a blind,deaf,crippled American Indian who doesn't know how to use the internet anyways and is most likely to fail at life and end up a useless drunk ringing a Salvation Army Bell at christmas time..
