My bro's a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to cigars and he recently sent me a tubed Cohiba Siglo VI, which I have just smoked and thoroughly enjoyed*.
Cigars is a brand new world to me, so I need you refined bastards to tell some fun stories and recommend some tasty smokes (Cuban or not).
*until Naomi gets home and tells me off for making the flat smell like cigars :<

That is like a $29 cigar. I've smoked like a cheap-o cigar that was probably in the range of $0.50-2, and I didn't have a great time. I guess I know what to do next time I have a spare $87.

Smoked a Cuban once while over seas. Didn't have anything to compare it to except a philly stuffed with weed.

macanudos are the only brand that come to mind. i've heard dominican cohibas aren't bad. i'm fond of maduro cigars, which are darker in color. never had a chance to try cubans. the best advice i can give you is to go to a good cigar shop and shoot the shit with someone working there. tell them what price range you're interested in first before you mention the cohiba (if you mention it at all). they'll point you at some quality stuff in your price range. try what they recommend and then come back to the same person keeping in mind what you liked/disliked about it.
also? don't go bottom of the barrel; the extra expense is worth it.

Yaz just bought me a Macanudo Friday night at the local cigar bar. It was nice. Which is good, because last time we got cigars there he ended up puking on my boots.

I've only ever smoked Swishers and this one type that tasted like strawberry pop-tarts.

These ones that I sent to BBP were all Cuban, but I pulled off the bands in case they were opened during shipping. I got them in trade for a favour (I had some custom glass made for him...about $350 worth) and thought it would be nice to share. It's one thing to send a buddy a smoke, another to get caught committing a federal crime. I'll have to ask my supplier what they were again, but my favorites were the medium sized ones with the darker cure, single leaf wrap and crimp cut inside. Only one of those made it to the party...
Of normal, get in the store, "Hey, I can afford this thing and it tastes good, too!" type, my favorite by far is Wolfe Brother's Vanillia Crooks. Accept No Substitutes! (Unless, as GuitarJohn sez, you can find Swisher Sweets with the Cherry Wood tips.)

my suggestion that won't kill your budget would be a Rocky Patel, one of the best cigars i have had. some other good options are Romeo y Julieta's (almost all of them are decent) or La Gloria Cubana Serie R. |

I had a friend pick up a box of Cuban Cohiba Esplendidos as a present for my best man... I paid £30 for a box of 25, which I thought was a bit steep - until I saw them for sale on the internet for $700+. I now need info on how to store them correctly (and/or sell them on at a steep profit...) |
