This week was Christmas; the managers are gone, the grunts doing all the work for $5.15 an hour (I make $7, I'm an executive).
Yesterday, the drop safe was left unlocked all day with over 30 grand in it. More than 35 people had access, and I noticed it during a rush of waiters. It would've been so easy...
What would IMFRANS do? |

How the fuck do you live on $7.00 an hour?
I make over A$18.00 an hour and the wolves seem to be getting close.

in a situation like this, you gotta consider:
1. how likely are they to miss something, and how much will it take before they miss it. (30k will be missed, but will $100? $200?
2. how likely they are to know who did it. it sounds like lots of people had access, but what about survellience cameras, etc?
3. how likely you would get ratted out
4. how long it will take them to notice. the later it's noticed, the easier it is to get away with, as logs or tapes sometimes get deleted after so long, or at least get filled with more people to check.
5. how good you are at keeping a secret. noone at work must know, and you must not lead on about such things or act suspicious when asked.
6. how well you can live with yourself after doing it. this may end up being the kicker, but maybe not.
7. think about how the work environment will change after something like this happens. bosses will know they have a "traitor" in their mist and become suspicious of everyone or use it as an excuse to crack down on some other bad behaviors of your coworkers. this usually ends up being the kicker for myself, coupled with #6.
all this said, i think FRANS would grab about $50-100 and treat the wifey to a nice dinner out.
ps. $7 an hour? dude, you're getting ripped. you're an "executrive" at $7/hr? don't you live in expensive-as-hell california? maybe you should do it, thats what they get for paying such low wages. and it's FDIC insured anyway, right?

A wise man (steve miller) once said...
"go on, take the money and run.."
Although, a good bank robbery can get you like 3-times that. The secret is to not be a pussy and hold-up all of the tellers. Also, you have to make them clean out the vault too. A bank holds like 150k on average. A teller won't have more than 20k. |

The possibility of going to prison and being brutalized and raped for what amounts to less than a year’s wages hardly seems worth it, unless of course that sort of thing gets your rocks off.

vladtweano: 30k aint nearly worth it
Right. If I were ever presented with such an opportunity, it'd have to be for several hundred thousand dollars, not some measly 30k. Such a small amount is absolutely not worth a long prison term.
For the past week, I've been in charge of 30k+ dollars worth of new computers/accessories. I have a master key that gets me into offices and places that I'd normally never get into to. Because of the holidays, there's no one in them and I could easily steal tons of stuff. I'd never do it, mainly because I'm not a piece of shit thief, and also because at this point in my life I don't want a felony conviction on my record. Maybe my perspective will change as I get older, but I doubt it.

The average bank robber only nets around $2k so $30k would be decent, but not worth it. I'm going with the others but upping my low threshhold to a cool million. Travel fees and false documentation don't come cheap these days. |

"How the fuck do you live on $7.00 an hour?"
I worked thirty years in constuction before I broke & own my house outright. No rent. Just maintainence, utilities, & taxes.
"how well you can live with yourself after doing it?"
I couldn't, which makes me in the rare two percent; honest.
"You pussy. Steal it than blame it on the mexicans that clean the rooms"
Easily done in this case. No camera, over thirty people with access, & the maids were the last there.
"The possibility of going to prison and being brutalized and raped for what amounts to less than a year’s wages hardly seems worth it, unless of course that sort of thing gets your rocks off."
That's more than twice what I make in a year. I could do without the brutal sodomy, though.

steal it and if they find this post and bring it up, mention that it would be ridiculous for you to publically announce you were stealing something and it must have been another employee jumping on the opportunity to frame you.

I hope you get it back. Why does it seem that your fellow employees have little understanding of sensible behaviour at work? Driving drunk and getting caught, stealing from colleagues, etc.
At least now you have a known thief on staff if you do decide to go after the safe. Scapegoats are good to have.

Its one thing to be sure of the culprit, another to prove it. In this case, I recovered the wallet this morning, but not the money. Still could've been her, but possible not. We'll know when the bank card evidence is processed. Just because she was on duty when the cook lost $800 bucks and her drawer has been off a couple hundred bucks a couple of times (all in a three week period) and my wallet was swiped & ditched by one of only a couple of possible people & she was the one that wasn't my manager that I've known for two years doesn't mean that she is the thief absolutely in court. That can be proven by her handwriting that must be on the forged card slip and her waitress tags the detectives will have since I also have copies of those because I am the auditor & do her paperwork.
