Super Addictive Carmel Nut Popcorn One cup pecan halves One cup blanched almond slivers Eight cups popped popcorn One and a third cups sugar One cup butter or margarine Half cup corn syrup Half teaspoon cream of tartar Half teaspoon baking soda One teaspoon vanilla Lightly toast the almonds and pecans in a 300 F. oven. Cool then combine with the popcorn in a large buttered bowl. Combine sugar, butter, corn syrup and cream of tartar in a heavy sauce pan. Cook until mixture forms a hard ball dropped into cold water (252 degrees on a candy thermometer) or approximately 5 minutes cooking time. Remove from heat, stir in soda then vanilla. Pour over popcorn/nut mixture and stir till evenly coated. Turn out onto buttered cookie sheets and quickly press into an even layer.
