Saw Exorcist: The Beginning by Renny Harlin... don't know how Paul Schrader's version holds up (it's been re-titled Dominion: The Exorcist Prequel or something like that) but it CANNOT be one one-hundredth as dull dumb and funny-bad as this movie is.
Sometimes it comes off like a mix between Army of Darkness and a cheap Witchboard rip - I just have never seen all these cliches in one movie before.
The only thing missing was the one where a mysterious sound makes someone freaked and then it turns out to be just a cat playing in the dark...
Oh, but they had demonic CG hyenas that were from hell - and I mean effects-wise.
URGH what a waste - anyone seen Paul Schrader's?

I think I've seen this. The demonic CG hyenas is what tipped me off. Does some chick end up in a cave at the end with the satan/demon/whatever thing prancing around in there with her?

I haven't seen it and don't think the Schrader version is in release yet. I would like to see the Schrader version once it comes out though.
Everyone panned the Harlin version, I don't think it lasted more than two weeks in theatres. |

Perhaps the Gods have intevened on my behalf.
I got this very movie from NetFlix last night, only to find that it was cracked beyond repair.
