The very first day I installed the new Counter-Strike: Source patch, my computer decided to not be fun-loving and easy-going.
My pings were over 2000, and for some reason, my internet was working, and I couldn't even open an application like Pocket Tanks.
I decided to restart and I got a blue screen saying there's an error in rdbss.sys. It said HAY RESTART UR PUTER so I did, and Windows greeted me with YAY WE FIXT IT (KINDA). I said YAY and all was good... until minutes ago.
Midgame my ping shot up over 2 full seconds, internet wouldn't work, etc, etc, etc. I got the exact same screen as last time. Now my speakers are making the noise like they are being turned on. But I'm not touching them.
Now I stop typing in fear that my comptuer is going to explode. Plz hepp.

May be the rdbss.sys file got corrupted. rdbss.sys is located in the folder C:WindowsSystem32drivers.You may extract a fresh file from XP CD. [google/}
This sound like the easiest fix.

0x00000076 (PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGE
0x000000CB (DRIVER_LEFT_LOCKED_PAGES_IN_PROCESS)
This problem may occur if the redirector driver (Rdbss.sys) does not release the locked user pages when the original input/output (I/O) request packet (IRP) is canceled.
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely
affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack 5 or Windows XP SP2 that contains this fix.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix.
{The hotfix for Windows XP includes the following files: Mrxsmb.sys & Rdbss.sys}
{The hotfix for Windows 2000 includes the following files: Mrxsmb.sys & Rdbss.sys}.
That may not be the same stop error you're getting, but it could well be related.
First, I'd try restoring it from CD, like fastlane suggests, cause it's possible your copy was replaced with a shoddy malware version. You're probably going to have to do this by booting up with your original XP CD and doing a repair. It's been a while since I've done this and I don't remember the particulars, but if you have the option, try to enter an interactive shell off the CD and avoid doing any multifile restore option. I may be thinking of ERD Commander and not the XP restore CD with that interactive shell bit, but that's the route I'd go.

here is what i do when CS kills my comp....
First, you must curse and yell loudly so everyone around you understands exactly how serious the problem is.
Second, power down your comp(only if your a pussy), and pull out that video card, snatch some RAM too if you feel like it. Take vid card and Ram and put them together, held by a rubber band or electrical tape etc.
Third, take this "sandwhich" and place it in the microwave for about 46 seconds.
Fourth, taking care to make sure the sandwhich is still warm, remove the sandwhich and run back to your computer, remove the rubber band, and place the RAM and vid card on the floor IN FRONT of the computer.
Fifth, proceed to jump up and down on the items WHILE looking into the monitor.
If that doesnt work you suck azz.
You could always try re-installing the game, and make sure you are Running the latest version of STEAM.
