I watched one episode of Firefly. I thought it sucked. I can't figure out why everyone seems to like it so much; I feel as if I'm missing the point or something. |

I will admit that I watched only the train robbery episode when this series first came out. But I have been watching the re-airings on the sci-fi channel religiously every Friday night since it first started (SCI-FI FRIDAY!!!) and have become quite attached. I will be there in the opening week.

It's definitely worth seeing - if you like movies with lots of fighting, explosions, a bizzaro evil bad guy and space zombie type creatures. I do, so I didn't consider it a waste of time at all. The other good thing was it didn't feel the need to explain the back story in tedious detail. So I am still unclear what a brown-coat really is, but I don't care, because the lots of fighting, explosions, bizzaro evil bad guy and space zombie type creatures kept me entertained throughout. It was also funny in places.
My one complaint would be the lack of boobs. If they had some of that, it would have been pretty much perfect. (But then it is a well known fact that any movie can be improved with the addition of midgets and boobs. And I say this as a midget with man-boobs).

I loved it...just like the series.
They use the same whirlygig camera tricks when filming the space scenes in the movie, as in the series. It makes you feel almost there and also, atleast me, slightly ill.
It definitely helps the backstory of the movie to watch the TV episodes first; the movie picks up where they left off.
I forgot how much I loved the characters and [SPOILER ALERT] we finally get to see Simon bang Kaylee - glee!

I won't say your conclusion would do anyone anything but good, but are you guessing, or did Kahuna actually say this? Cause I think it was less a "tough love" sort of proposition and more a "squelch the nigger" sort of proposition.
Anyway, the movie. It rocked.
Me, I don't care for the swoopy zoom effect they used in the series and in the movie, and I suspect it might have looked cheesy to me on the big screen if I weren't used to it already from the series.
I also haven't ever cared for the whole River Tam character -- or her brother -- but their value in providing an over-arching background plot is obvious, so whatever. The movie was no different, and I wasn't impressed with her bits much, but they were bearable.
They made some brave choices with character... "development", and I'm still kinda surprised by some of them, but good for the writers for having balls. Apparently Joss Whedon was pissed enough at the show's cancellation that he's more or less foresworn the idea of doing Firefly small-screen any more, and has hinted at further movies, but given certain developments and resolutions, I can't imagine what sort of plot he'd use.
The assassin character was surprisingly cool, especially since that's a common fuckup point.
I'm also reversing my usual trend and saying that this show definitely could have used a little more tit, especially in the Anoura category.

In fact, she was one of the most demanded graduates of the Academy, which is what got her in trouble in the first place. I hear that politicians and other types of hookers don't mix together too well  I don't know much more than that, except that I pray for the next movie to feature a lot more nudity.

Fire fly is a great series and the only reason it was canceled is because it was to racey for television example he keeps calling inara a whoreanyway the series is funny and action packed with a great protagonist and antagonist the movie was ok it did have a great story line though
