Confession time: I'm not a huge fan of metal. I like Queens of the Stone Age. Maybe some people consider AC/DC metal. I dunno. So yeah, sorry, I like to think I'm open minded about music, but something about metal just turns me off, its image and its sound.

I like pretty much all other types of music. If anybody wants to recommend Hip-hop/Rap, that's cool; my black history month mitzvah this year is to get into some black hip-hop. Right now all I have is white hip-hop, Rjd2, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Eminem, et al, and I'm dying for some street cred. I like Dr. Dre and Kanye.

"Black rap"

Ellay Khule - Califormula

Lootpack - Soundpieces: Da Antidote!

Peanut Butter Wolf - My Vinyl Weighs a Ton [DJ/prodcuer, so it's kind of a mixtape]

Elusive - Frequenzy Modulation Remixed [DJ/producer again]

Sadat X - Experience and Education

This (Mikah 9 and P.E.A.C.E. of Freestyle Fellowship)

As far as other "white rap"

Rob Sonic - Telicatessen

Non-Prophets - Hope

Cage - Hell's Winter

Dinozoa, it might help if you could narrow down your request - you say "anything but metal" then you say don't give a long list.

What are you wanting out of this music? Are you wanting vocal or instrumental? Current music or old school or older than that? English-speaking only or from other countries, too? Stuff you can sing/play along to, or stuff that will blow your mind with its complexity?
