Written, directed, and starring Zack Braff in his first film - and it is great!

Some might classify this as a "chick flik" - I disagree; (Monster In Law is a chick flik- but) this movie is original, inventive, and funny as hell.

Go and rent it - you will LYFAO.

If by great you mean "mediocre," then YES.

Some might classify this as a "chick flik" - I disagree;

Nobody ever said that, you are dumb and gay, like your movie.

this movie is original, inventive, and funny as hell.

or... this movie is contrived, unoriginal and way too dramatic to be funny

Go and rent it - you will LYFAO.

Better yet, rent some porn instead, you'll get more out of it intellectually.

...and the soundtrack rocks

Go and rent it - you will LYFAO. Except for uart, whose sense of humor was abandoned long ago in a deal with the devil.

i laughed at parts of it.

"i can't believe you're not retarded."

"we'll probably head over there right after we bury your mom."

"by the way, it says 'balls' on your face."

"don't tease me about my hobbies. i don't tease you about being an asshole."

the bit with the flaming arrow.

i was expecting more. the ending was kinda weak. i think grosse point blank did the whole 'going home leads to cognitive dissonance leads to life change' thing better, and it was funnier, and it had better music. i do like zach braff though, and the stoner guy, but not natalie portman.

EDIT: uart is a dolt

Kahuna loves this movie and has subjected me to watching it about a hundred times. It's pretty good though. My favourite scene is when the dog at the neurologist's office is humping his leg and Natalie Portman says "Here comes the lipstick".

Garden State is a good film. A little slow out of the starting gates. But the story is quirky and somewhat inventive and it has an amazing soundtrack. If you are the type to be affected by movies like "Lost in Translation" and well these are really the only two in this catagory, maybe True Romance??? You will like this film. Its yet another coming of age tale where some dude falls in love with a pretty yet quircky gal who seems to have all the secrets to life. I love it. Feed me more. The truth is though that in "Lost in Translation" the soundtrack roxxxord and teh cinematography was the bombdiggity. But the story was more ... real. However, not half bad for a first foray into film. Brovo Zack.

PEace out
BTW - The shins song on the soundtrack is the best shins song that exists. The rest of their albums songs etc don't come close. Frou Frou is ok but you can easily get sick of it. I even have a playlist on my iPod that is labeled Garden State cause I think the songs I add to it would fit with the soundscape of that film/

This movie sucked. I really didnt think it was funny, touching, or even entertaining. People say "its Natalie Portmans best performance". If this is true she should have got an Oscar for Closer. At least she acted(like a slut i might add) in that film.
