This documentary made me think. Parts of it are just bullshit but other arts are pretty fucking scary. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a watch. It's long so make a bowl of popcorn and pop the cap off a Blue.

I downloaded the movie last night and just finnished watching it.
Holy Fucking Christ on a Goddamned Crutch!
All of this information taken one bit at a time doesn't mean much but when you see it all laid out in front of you it;s pretty fucking frightening.

I don't agree with every thing I saw but assuming that it was mostly true and accurrate what can we do? How can we stop this process. Can we reverse this maddness?

Even if only half of it is accurrate we're fucked, our kids are fucked and our grand kids are fucked.
I can see only one way out. It's pretty thin but it might be a good start if enough people get involved.
It works like this.
1. Change you voter registration to independant and try to convince every one you know to do the same.
2. Never ever vote democrat or republican again.
3. Vote in every election for the candidate that you believe will do the best job as long as he isn't a member of an established party.
4. Never again vote for the guy that seems to be the lesser of two evils.
5. Write to every elected official for your area, local, state and federal. Tell them what you are doing and why.
6. Start letter campaigns urging your representitives to enforce posse commitatus, revoke the patriot act and be more responsive to the public.
7. When you do vote always take part in an exit poll. If there isn't an official one. Start one.
8. Don't underestimate the power of the internet.
I know that all this sounds a bit lame but we need to start thinking out of the box that the system has put us in. All this is is my idea of how to start the ball rolling.
And before any one says that this could only work in a perfect world think about this:
We could have a perfect world if everyone acted as if we already did.

I registered "Decline to State" for every election since I was old enough to vote. The big bummer is you don't get to vote in the primaries at all. Staying outside of the parties is no guarrantee of anything except exclusion of your voice.
Another discoraging point is the illegal suppresion of candidates by the system in the electoral college. Even IF a candidate were to win the popular vote, the electoral college would refuse to recognise the numbers and still make its selection from the binary party system.
Still, its the system we have, and the best country period. I've watched long enough to know that the farther the pendulum swings one way, farther it'll swing back. After President Hitler has his turn, we'll have a period of compassion and enlightenment again.
Or we'll all be dead.

how's this for a scary thought. October 2008, with Jeb Bush or Condi, or whoever, far behind the Democrat in the polls, Muslim militants attack downtown LA and Florida. Jeb Bush and Schwarzenegger ask Bush to declare a state of emergency, which he does. At this point, if the Republican still loses the general election, look ahead to December 2008, when another attack, on Washington DC, means Bush calls for some emergency powers and replaces teh existing government with a shadow government run by the neocons/military-industrial complex.
And that's it, the shadow government becomes the permanent government, and American pseudo-democracy ends for good. |
