i was inspired by the cheesy background lighting for the monkeyhead's speech last night, so i made this:

greater federal authority
the prattle of new orleans
bush's holy war on nature
environmentalists are to blame
behind the magic

"Most think the reason Hurricane Katrina became more powerful was because of the water temperatures in the Gulf, but we found one poster on some bboard who blamed it on the Chinese. And, posters on internet bboards are almost never wrong... or never right. I forget which."
"Were you listening to left-wing nuts and got confused about your actual positions on issues again?" Condi asked accusingly.
"Not another giant hurricane!" Bush griped, "Maybe I did make God angry. Think I should convert to Judaism?"
"No," Laura Bush answered.
"I just know I'm going to get blamed for this," Bush moaned, "and it even hit Texas! Why couldn't it go for Mexico where no one lives that anyone cares about?"

Meanwhile, back in Nawlins, those guys that managed to keep their NOC up and running through the disaster are still at it, and they're painting a decidedly non-rosy picture.

I can not believe the NO city leaders are trying to organize a big fucking Mardi Gras bash when many areas are still without water, gas or electricity and phone service. These same assfucks are also urging the displaced Katrina peeps to return to the city to help out with Mardi Gras. Meanwhile people are living in tents and cars trying to figure out how to get their lives back in order.

NEW ORLEANS, Mayor Ray Nagin:
""God is mad at America," in part because he does not approve "of us being in Iraq under false pretenses."
"He is sending hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it is destroying and putting stress on this country," Nagin said.
He said God is "upset at black America also."

I heard that LK. I lived there and I can say that if more of the blacks/african americans/niggers move back than New Orleans is done for. I lived in the deep south for some time and have seen how they bring down whole neighbor hoods. Not on purpose though. Racism is very strong in the south to this day and Whitey prefers to not live in chocolate milk.

More from CNN today.
Across the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged city, many voiced their displeasure with the mayor's Monday remarks at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech. One Web site even began peddling T-shirts showing Nagin with a top hat along with the caption "Willy Nagin and the Chocolate Factory."
Did we do this?? I know my Photoshop was awesome. When do I get my royalty cheques?

That page is rife with bad language.
Doug, from Lowry writes:
In the aftermath of Katrina, the military had a slow response, had to be asked by various officials, in the future when should the military take a leading role. Generally, before Iraq, reserverist while trying their best are not trained to do the job, nor do they have access to the correct machinery.
How many errors is that? Doesn't the White House use proofreaders for their website? Or do they cherry-pick the stupid ones?

transcript shows governments underestimated katrina
duh. i like this part, though:
...the August 29 transcript -- and one from the previous day -- show that National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield was worried Katrina might push water over the levees.
"I don't think anyone can tell you with confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not, but that's obviously a very, very great concern," Mayfield said.
After the storm, Bush said, "I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees," and Chertoff agreed.
also:
In an apparent effort to deflect criticism from the Bush administration, Homeland Security officials highlighted in yellow parts of the transcript that showed any weakness by local officials.
i guess now is actually the appropriate time for the blame game, no?
