I got an Atari 2600 for Christmas when I was 13. My big brother's idiot girlfriend took me for a ride to the corner store and said, "I know what your mom is getting your for Christmas. I'll tell you if you tell me what Sean's getting me."
I told her that I had seen my brother showing a circular with rings on it and asking advice on them from big sis and Grandmother.
She told me about the Atari.
Come Christmas, she opened her gift from my brother and it was a beautiful sweater. She asked where the ring was. Dumbass.
Huge scandal. He eventually made good on the ring promise and married this bafoon and I still have a family rep of not being trustworthy with a secret. |

I played my ass on on some Intellivision golf game. I actually knew when to use the wood vs iron, etc. Whatever.

Now, now, Vas. You're not being objective, just trying to be old-skool. I mean, I could also bring up Metal Gear I on the MSX platform, Montezuma's Revenge on the Atari (which rocks out to this day btw), etc., but the truth of the matter is that
quite a few better games have been released since then. |

I'm positive you're right. I just haven't played them.
The XBox is the first console I've owned since I managed somehow to get my hands on an SNES, which got far less play than my NES. It wasn't until two years ago that I had a PC capable of playing anything more taxing than Quake II, and not until three or four months ago that I had a video card faster than a Voodoo II and a Windows partition to play them on.
I'm just not a big gamer. Besides, games are way different now. I loved the hell out of Splinter Cell 3 and Thief 3 on the Xbox, but they're nothing like, say, Impossible Mission on the C64 in that there's no real mystery or adventure. It's more like dexterity tests than anything.
Anyway, these are what come to mind as the games I'll always still want to play (possible exception of Karateka, which I remain fond of anyway). SFW might have titled the thread "Best" but his post makes it clear it's meant to be subjective -- and, in fact, nostalgic.
Therefore, go fuck self, or ante up, you kvetchy red.

A nintentdo emulator? That's easy...
http://www.emureactor.com/news.php
Every emulator from Atari to Sega CD. A plethora of ROMS, too.
Say... would this be a good link to submit to the main site? Worth a try, I suppose...

Now find a C64 or Intellivision emulator that doesn't have the most fuked-up, non-intuitive and undocumented keymappings in the world, and I just may kiss you.
EDIT: MAY

Definitely. At the time I was amazed by them. at one point I got a glitch where the dinosaurs ended up walking through the walls-which was actually somewhat creepy for me at the time. Never could find the last egg I don't think. And no saving?? wtf

I just meant that the game was better in SNES than 64. What kind of game is ct?
Chrono Trigger is the most kick ass RPG you'll ever play. The fights never got boring. The story is interesting. The graphics are (for the time period...) good. Play it now.

Any body remember Blasto for PS1?
I just ran across it in my pile of games and was remembering how much fun it was.
Slightly off topic:
Does any body know of a way to save PS1 games on a PS2.
The games from PS1 are compatible but I can't get any of them to save to the chip.

what are you saying comrad.... as far as i'm aware you can already play the ps1 games on the ps2 console no? the chip makes it possiblski to play imports and copys and net downloads...
we're currently using a modded playstation to calculate the exact speed required to stay in orbit... it also plays streets of rage 1/2 and 3...
there's nothing like having a russki fling with horris and his ski-ing..(old skool spectrum cause the KGB wouldn't import the commodore for fears of a rebellion using western teknologies.. which was when i enrolled into the space program in a vain vodka driven attempt to lay my paws on a gameboy or at the very least a nintendo donkey kong hand held).
oh the hours of downhill snow run fun mixed up with some phat ass kicking in the streets... reminds me of home comrads... (attempts to wipe tear away from eye but forgetting that the goddamm-o-vich visor is always down.)
and as for the tomy electronic hand held with tanks and racing cars and shark hunting, superrrb comrads.. superrrb.
any other electronic - non computer based games that anyone else playdski?

ohh comrad.. early eyes that have been doused in the suns radiation for far too long have just spotted that you actually want to save the games to yourr chipski...
i apologise for being a space bound monkey's ass.
you can get a harrd-drrive for the ps2 and storre it all on therre.. don't ask me wherre though as i'm in space.
but while i'm at it... and the vodka... bio hazard battle on the mega drrrive/genesis closely followed by some ass kickin LHX attack chopper from electronic arts and some ghost and ghouls on the sneszinki. oh and of course mario cart.. i mean come on.. lightning, red shells and balloon that pop on your enemies when you send a homing shell their way... ahhhhh dashbin-danggleyar hoi!
