I always wondered what went on backstage at concerts. Do they order pizzas? Sit back in some dingy little dressing room getting pissed before the show? Well, The Smoking Gun has some interesting backstage riders from some well known bands.
Some more reasons to hate Christina Aguilera. I'm not at all surprised to see that Jane's Addiction needed rolling papers and bottles of $50 wine.

Nice. The Jane's Addiction one starts to look a little corporate until you realize they probably had little to do with things like requiring concert-goers be stripped of cameras, etc.
I suspect that crazy-specific "Living room must be decorated in earthy velour" bit isn't so much artist prickery, but more an attempt to create familiarity; i.e. you're touring, always on the road, and it's probably nice to be able to fake your head out a little and make it think Tuesday night is the same place as Monday night.
I didn't realize they were such food-conscious types. All health stuff, as contrasted to the artist's crew, which is listed as "Pizza, Taco Bell, Subway, etc." And no booze except for a bottle of Absolut -- I think that wine was for managers and the like.
Weird. I guess they didn't want to mix alcohol with their ODing.
By the way, this Soya Kaas cheese Aguilera talks about: I've had it. You ever hear of people talking about cheese "binding" you up? I never sympathized. But when I ate Soya Kaas, I don't think I shit for about twelve days.

This is great! The perks of being famous... I toured in a very, very small time band in the midwest - Ohio, Pennsylvania, western NY - well, you could hardly call it "touring." We played at clubs that were supposed to be the up and coming music joints in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Rochester, etc. (except the "Star Tavern" in Chilicothee OH - but that's another story). The perks? Sleeping in the van, shitty pizza and bar owners who would inevitably short your take of the door (we actually got paid $17 for a gig once). It's no wonder big time musicians are such prigs. Except for Britney - that little cnut pisses me off -Two couches? "Feel free to give it an apartment feel?" I mean, give me a fucking break. |
