This happened to a friend on a beautiful sunny ride in a flash. Live each day to the fullest. You (or me) could be next.

Enjoy the Day

Tom had JUST (2 weeks earlier) gotton his harley after ten years of not riding. The weather was perfect, and on a beautiful country road, he came around a corner into a patch of sunlight just as a rancher was turning into his driveweay. Not five minutes later my buddy in the hills drove right past & didn't recognise him. It was, as they say, Instantanious. The very best of days, the very best of feelings, then SNAP!

No pain, just a pick up grill, and he was gone.

His obituary says it very well

Sorry to hear this 'Goat.

It is so often the case with guys who go back to 'bikes after a long time off them, that is why I try to have a 'bike on the road every couple of years, even if only for a few months.

Tom left this physical world after a motorcycle accident on Old Creek Road in Cayucos, Friday, July 8, 2005. It was instantaneous. Tom would have liked that. About the last thing he saw was the ocean looking west.

Though raised as Catholic, Tom studied Native American and Eastern traditions for spiritual awareness. He practiced active meditation with Samurai swords. Tom was a "gentle" man as well as a gentleman. He was kind and gentle for the ladies and showered them with flowers, hugs, kisses and poetry.

His arms were always wide open especially for the young and aged. He was the kindest man we ever met. Tom never left his common passerby or friend wanting for a hand. He was most often found at Montanna de Oro running or riding his horses. He was always up for fun, a kayak, a sail, a cocktail, good food and forever laughing and telling stories around a fire.

Twinkling blue eyes, mischievous grin, infectious laughter and zest for life made him hard to forget even to new acquaintances. Known to be steadfast in his convictions, Tom was also known to be a protector and caregiver to those in need.
