I've had ST at one time. Played it years ago, found it imaginative and graphically rich, yet some puzzles were hard to solve due to the eccentricity of the solution. Still fun to check out, try ebay for ~$5.

I played starship titanic. it was really hard when I was 14 or whatever I was when it came out, but it's not that hard anymore, although that means it's not that fun either.
to answer your question, unless you're a huge fan of douglas adams and have to have every last thing he had a hand in, it's not really worth getting. Zork: Grand Inquisitor is a bit funnier and is A LOT harder.
