I'm a big fan of Worldbeat Jazz shit, I also think it's cool that out national broadcasting service plays a diverse range of styles (CBC yo!). I caught an artist profile/interview/set while driving home from work yesterday, and I thought this dude had a really cool sound (very groovy).

THE MIGHTY POPO!
Nkuba
Ma Afrika

Nice guitar work on the second track

If you can manage, try to listen to some Galactic, you might enjoy it. It's a little more hippy jazz then that, but hey. I have no clever way to end this post.

Didn't mean to mess with your journal, learn something new
everyday Full-sized image, hey, you like? Now I gotta find
another to post for Clavis to see it's not a damn shame to
give away trade secrets, well maybe.

That music doesn't suck atall LK, makes me want better
speakers. Nice style, good mood music.

For Afrobeat, there's always the obvious choice of Fela Kuti. I downloaded the Chief Xcel mix, and he's taken the long songs and turned them into reasonable 3-minute songs....or you could go for the original 15 minute versions

Sacreliege! Felating cootie never played a song after it had been recorded, and here you are in your cali-ass way wanting it "your way"... Stripmining the songs so they fit into radio play format, while your at it why don't you put in some whiney vocals on top to make it more "real".

oh and I liked these songses too.

I'll second this. Also Soulive. Also Sonny Landreth's new live album. Also Taj Mahal's not new african/carribbean stuff.
