I post this here becourse this a whole new direction for this issue,
it isnt about the evil government and the poor poor people, its about the future, the outcome of this all.
Of course this unfortunate bastards try to get control over everything, becourse daddy said so.
Its a natural development of an economic process, full control over the machines means optimisation of the work prozess.
Beside of all discussion there are only two ways to go:
But control over people destroyes the work process, they will work with hate, uninformed, they will make failures (on purpose, conscious or unconscious), they will produce gianitic costs.
(you hate it making homework for the evil teacher, dont you?)
While the informed people will know everything. And, you know, in such a position its easy to become paranoid, they will hide in their barbedwired grounds, only meet each other on incest-like partys.
(it isnt about whether they are right, or not, paranoia doenst
work on this level, everybody with some gramms of grass in their
pocket, walking past a policeman, knows this)
The uninformed will feel dumb and empty, they will never have enought material things, becourse they will always want the new and expansive stuff they see in the tv. Maybe this leads to a rise of spirituality or religion (you know your horoscope, dont you?).
Look at the typical worker class magazines, they are writing about moonphases. Look at Fantasy and Science-Fiction movie.
Look at drugs. Everything what distracts the people from their hated poorness and work environment ("For those of you without hope, we have rooms with color TV, cable and air conditioning."
dont get me wrong, this is ok, but you dont want to spend your wholelife just with work, movies, sex and drugs, or will you?)
Or:
Internet wins, the news are biased like before, but not in the name of companys rather in the name of the editors (like in blogs).
Internet means discussion, and if the big media sites censore discussions, the people will go away (you dont like it if anybody says "shut up, dont you?).
Regardless what happens, the tower (with the king at top) will collapse,
becourse of the conversations in the corridors. One staff member of the king (which, you know, is a allegory to the rich and powerful people) who goes into the kitchen an talks with the personal can destroy the whole unquestionable authority of the king.
Call me idealistic: there is no way to avoid this becourse
People are people
So why shouldnt it be

One thing that (our version) of democracy implies is that "you cant please everybody".
There will always be conflicts, intern or extern, and people will be willing to talk, becourse they hate their employer.

Here is the future.
By 2040, massive glacial melting, soaring temperatures and changing weather patterns destroy the world's food supply and spreads tropical diseases all along the coasts of major continents. European nations are freezing under massive temperature changes, everyone is emigrating to the southern mediteranean. AIDS, meanwhile, has gone out of control and African economies collapse further, while death rates soar so high as to eleminate the out of control population growth.
The last major oil wells dry up, civilian use of fossil fuels is prohibited and controlled militarily. Migration is out of control, and global powers are eyeing each other. Russia eyes its old Eastern bloc nations, China eyes Russia, Japan eyes the Southeast Asian nations, and India and Pakistan are engaging in full-blown war. Egypt, Syria and other Islamic nations band together and engage in war with Israel, with the US deperately throwing troops in to stop the struggle. North Korea attacks South Korea and troops are thrown their too. Taiwan invades Australia, but then gets nuked by China. China then nukes Australis, again for good measure.
South American nations, fed up with oil prices and military dictatorships overthrow and form a huge communist conglomerate of nations lead by Brazil. They now turn their eye to their historic agressor, the US. With latinos accounting for fully half of the US electorate, polticians are forced to relieve all Latin American debt, forgoe neo-liberal policies. In complete dissarray throughout the world, the international monetary mechanisms-the IMF-World Bank- and WTO collapse. International markets collapse.
Finally, extremist muslims gain the upper hand in Pakistan and throw out the aristocratic rulers, gain control of the nuclear weapons and nuke Israel, and then India. India's automatic response systems nuke Pakistan. Isreal's systems nuke Mecca, Syria and Tehran. Tehran, which has nukes by now, nukes Israel again, and then Paris, just for good measure. Russia seeing full blown nuclear war, secures its borers. It nukes Afghanistan, and north korea. The US' massive nuclear network responds in kind. We nuke everybody. Everybody else nukes us.
In the end, 2000 canadians inherit the earth in pleasant little cabins, until birds devolve into dinosaurs again and ambush them raptor-style.
Through it all, the media didn't fuking matter.

YAY FUTURE! I'm so glad I have a daughter to worry about (not really). Thinking about shit like this makes me wish I hadn't had kids. Look what we're giving them.

If you want some real facts you can look up the Pentagon report "An abrupt climate change scenario" written by two business leaders who outline a future of "endemic warfare". Its all part of the non-linear progression for global warming that has a "growing body of evidence" according to Chomsky and Science Magazine. I wrote a paper on it. Most of what I said was based off pretty plausible scenarios. Read up my friend. We are MUCH closer to nuclear war then we were in the cold war.
Its not bitching, its a kind of cynical despair.

random thought: noxious religious fundie zealot groups, be they christian or muslim or whatever, are powered by dumb rednecks. in a perfect world, these same rednecks could be burned as auto fuel. |
