Thats right, Cream, the band that made Clapton a God (or at least that made him more of a God) is coming back. They were together for 2 years in the 60's before breaking up. Next month they are playing four nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London (Thats adjacent to Hyde Park in the Kensington/Chelsea area).

They will rock out. They will jam. And after the shows, they'll try to write some new material. They are rock and roll's first supergroup, and their fans could be getting a new album, and even a world tour out of this.

This is the greatest thing to happen to music in my lifetime.

Eric Clapton - Guitar
Jack Bruce - Bass/Vocals
Ginger Baker - Drums

too bad Clapton in no way, shape, or form resembles the guitar god he was as a 20 yr old. if they play Tales Of Brave Ulysses throw an egg or two for me, eh ?

Exactly. This will suck as much as just about every other rock reunion has. I'd rather see Iron Mike Tyson make his newest comeback. At least I KNOW some kind of freakish entertainment wil be had from that.

And yeah, I'm officially hijacking this thread in the name of Iron Mike.

He rocked pretty hard at the Wachovia Center in Philly last summer. I think the difference is that the type of music he plays has changed from Rock and Roll with Blues influences, to Blues that sometimes also rocks.

Besides, when he brought Robert Randolph out to Jam during the encore, he definitely kicked some serious ass. Clapton is all about who he's playing with, and the reunion with Cream will definitely be putting him in good company to regain that god status.

Also, Tales of Brave Ulysses is among my favorite Cream songs (although, I pretty much can say that about all of them) and I would never throw an egg over that.

ok, but don't you sorta miss the old school, cocaine-and two fifths of whiskey-per day, Clapton ?

Cream is definitely the shit. Clapton didn't somehow forget how to rock out. He's not going to forget the notes to White Room or anything. The only thing I'm worried about is how Jack Bruce's voice has held up over the years. He had a voice like an angel.

Jan 4th (or whenever): tickets went on sale
Jan 3rd (or whenever - 1): tickets sold out.

Tales of Brave Ulysses is pretty awesome.

Yeah, I mean, those were the good-old days. I hope that maybe he can get back to that level of creativity without the substances. Although if you check out his concert rider, he does request quite a bit of beer... so you never know.

I think he'll be fine. He may have disappeared from popular culture for a while, but he didn't disappear from music. He's put out a bunch of solo Jazz/blues albums, and he's even worked with Clapton on a couple tracks here and there. His voice is definitely going to be in good shape. It may not be as angelic as it once was, but he'll be able to sing all the old favorites and he'll sound great with any new songs they write.

If they put out a new album, I WILL buy it. On CD for posterity. I fully expect their reunion to be better than any other reunion thus far.

Besides, Classic Rock concerts are always some of the best concerts out there. Kids these days just don't know how to rock out.

GINGER-FUCKING-BAKER

Love that man. He sent me greenbud & a cardbord pipe for my 30th BD in a card. His hug is bones in hairy leather. He smells of sweat and old pussy and good hash. Every word is cut from the sky and barked out in velvet stone. His welcome is his bond, and he is who he lives.

God bless his whole path.

having been scarred way to often by dismal comeback efforts and supergroups that should rock but in fact blow moose cock (with relish), I really really hope this does not suck for everyone. thank you.

I sick of Clapton and his stupid SBC Yahoo commercials that keep playing ten times in a row whenever I'm trying to watch Blind Date

Shweetbox: Since when was CREAM a 'supergroup'?

Cream was the first supergroup. All three members were established and respected musicians in their own right -- hence the meaning of the supergroup.
