The New Orleans Jazz Festival is by far the best festival i have ever attended. The Festival is over a three weekends and has just some kick ass lineups. The food is second to none, Gumbo, jambalaya, crayfish, and other stuff that makes my mouth drool thinkinking about it.. Beer is plentiful, stands everwhere and a reasonable $3 a can for quality beer. they have a row of port-a-johns as far as the eye can see, never a wait and are cleaned and emptied constantly.
I advise everone to go at least once in their life.

bean there. Naw'lins is much more entertaining than the fetivus--at least any city that allows you to roam the streets carrying liqour cannot be ignored for the midst of carnival turkey leg hippie dust bowls.

But to their benefit: Cheap tickets 25-35$
12 stages.. etc.
Although being in Austin, live musics isn't that rare around here--heck we just got over the sxsw crapfest, so jazzfest could cleanse the soul.

I've been to NOLA at least 7 times but I still haven't made it to jazzfest. I have heard reports that it is too hot, too crowded but I think it is from people who aren't used to the big music festivals and the such. I was really hoping to make it this year but had to pull out with the whole G-mom in the hospital situation I have here.
On the positive side of things we just had a great festival (langerado) right here in town with some really good music and a perfect crowd size for the venue. This was the 3rd year of the festival and by far the best attended and the best run. There were also lots of spring breakers making it a destination as the dates worked out perfectly for it. I predict it is going to really explode by next year, I'd suggest it for anyone into the jam genre. I have a few pics up: http://www.jimnance.com/html/langerado.htm
Hobo, any pictures stories etc you could share from NOLA jazz fest? I'd love to see what I missed.
