Have you ever taken a chance and watched a film you'd never heard of and discovered a gem?
Up too late, flipping channels I saw Chatahoochie and read the synopsis. Starring Gary Oldman, I’m a fan. About a mental institution, nice. And it’s a true story.
It’s from 1989 but I found the trailer. I recommend it.

Yes, this has happened to me. Blue Velvet, about 4 years ago. I never rented it because the title reminded me of something some old woman would watch while fucking a knitting needle and spilling her purple hair dye. But, turned out to be a gem.

Salton Sea rocked.
Best contender for sleeper hit I know of is Boondock Saints. LBP turned me on to it having just rented it out of the blue one day a million years ago.

I'll have to check that one out....for me the best sleepers were Galaxy Quest and Office Space. I've encountered too many of the characters portrayed in each of these IRL.

The Passion Of The Christ
but you have to get the more expensive directors cut, with the alternate endings

Girls Town one of those indie channel movies and sounds like a vapid corn fest but it was raw. Ghetto posturing, poverty and injustice for a tough group of inner city girls in high school. The girls were scary, man.
If you liked Boys in the Hood, you’d like Girls Town.

Starring RuPaul, Magic? Isn't that tantamount to the kiss of death? Even if it IS a comedy? |
